What engine applications was the yellow tipped "flat" handle dip sticks used for in BB's? Tried doing a search but could not find anything. Thanks.

Don't know all the applications Andrew, but that's what is in my 69 Chevelle SS.

I have seen them on 1969 396- 325HP & 375HP motors as well as 427- 425HP motors and 1970 396- 375HP motors and 454- 450HP motors... These are all from original, unmolested cars...

Thanks for the reply guys. Any one want to guess at what it's worth?, found one in the garage and don't need it. It's the original assembly line one with no part number stamped on it. Has the sideways E on it etc. Thanks.

I have seen those things go for as high as a few hundred dollars on e-bay in the past... I know they are valuable..

I found one at a swap meet a few years ago that the seller was getting rid of because he bought a cheap, cheesy, chrome one from Summit. I picked it up for five dollars if you can believe that. I think the guy was going to throw it away if he didn't sell it.. It was actually in the clear plastic Summit merchandising bag that the chrome one came in..

He said it came off his original 69 Chevelle SS.. He was selling all kinds of original parts off that car because he was replacing them with Summit or China Re-Pop Junk because he said the original stuff "didn't look good anymore" on the car... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/no.gif

ran into the same scenario on an orig owner 70 BB Nova that was being restored, he threw away (and I picked up) orig Nova BB radiator, valve covers, air cleaner, orig wide oval spare, fenders with orig black laquer still on them, carb, shroud and a whole bunch of other stuff. He said the stuff "looked old" if you can beleive it. Stuffed my truck until my bumper was dragging

24.25" total from end to end. The stick part that enters the tube measures 21" . I have 6 of these handy and they all measure the same. Hope this helps you.
