I was wondering what the possibilty of starting a "what's it worth" section here would be. I have lots of members PM me about items and their value. While I am happy to give them my opinion, I am only one person. I have noticed other sites with this specific area and wondered if it would be worth starting a section here.
Thanks,

I think it would be an interesting section although the values would have to fluctuate with the current market.

The only problem with that would be non paying members could use it to sell items so it would have to be a private members only section.

And I could see it fast turn into a subtle classified ad FOR SALE section for those who do not wish to subscribe to such.

I think it's a great idea. Again, for paying members only.

I have also found that regionally within the USA values greatly vary as does the definition of "great condition" and "barely restorable rust bucket".
I believe a "what's it worth" thread or section is good for both the buyer and seller. In the past we have seen these threads pop up and quickly lead to a "behind the PM" sale. I would guess that most don't ask these questions unless they want to buy or sell. It should be limited to posts by paying members.

Make it so only supporting members can reply to it. When I'm not logged in, I can't see pics...so I would assume one could set it up so non members would be locked to read only. Make it mandatory to have 2 pics attached to each. I haven't figured out how to post pics, but would if that what it took.

I think that time would be better spent making picture posting easier something like the camaro.net site has in place.

Respectfully speaking now.....I do NOT like the idea of a "what's it worth" section. I was involved with these cars before the money came into it and I'd be an enthusiast if the money left suddenly, which is highly unlikely, and they just became old gas guzzlers again. I don't need to know a monetary figure to brag about at a cruise night or to help me determine whether I like a car or not based on it's value. If somebody absolutely feels the need to place a value on something, it's very simple to do an E-Bay search on "completed listings". That would be a better gauge to use than watching the big-top circus auctions every January. I loathe the day when "how fast is it?" is replaced by "how much is it worth?"

Brian,
You have my vote. Making it easier to post pictures should be a top priority.
I will admit I am not the sharpest tool in the shed but I can post pictures on Camaros.net. Not here though.

I think the WIW idea has merit
As stated, other sites have them and they are very popular
As far as posting pictures, it is ez IF you use a free service such as photobucket, imageshack or the like
simply cut and paste the link they give you when you upload your pictures to your album
use the link that has the & not the < >
or it is simple to right click on a picture then add the & before and after (no spaces) the captured image link
Like this:

adding & gives you this:

Do you have to stand on one foot and hold you breath while doing this???? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif Once again a WIW would get abused by non paying members. A simpler picture posting format would be more beneficial to the site as a whole.

but, again, as stated above, make it members only ...
and, no, I don't even have to think twice when I push in the clutch pedal either, it comes easy once you learn how ... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif
