don't know the '68s well. Power brakes not required?

Thanks

Carb # 3959164-GE List 4346 0823

0823 indicates a later dated carb.... like 73, 83, 93, 03 or it could be just a 823 which would be a 68 dated carb. Who knows with no picture.

68 L78 Nova - More rare than chicken lips if I recall a quote from someone in a previous thread about these cars........?????????

That's my guess.

I know 68 Camaro big block cars didn't require disk brakes, but I think they did get the finned drums.

Neither do I Sam but that's what I thought too...what about the exhaust manifolds? Not prepped for smog tubes.

jasonL78

Yes it does but the glass is supposed to be original. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif

What do you think of the motor stamp i wish the pic was clearer looking

Now looking closer at pics .I dont understand why the positraction sticker in the trunk looks new and the jack instructions look old ,look at the clutch shaft bracket on the frame looks cleaner than the frame ,and the rear springs and rear dont match the underside of the car and the tire sticker on the glove box.I would be looking at the hidden vins before i pulled the trigger.like to see a better motor pic

The tranny stamp is the give-a-way...the letter code for the month should preceed the day of the month. The stamp can be seen in one of the photos with the letter "E" following the date...it is also listed that way in the ad. I have never seen one this way....and low mileage original survivors don't usually have small black radiator covers. There are lots of other little things and a few big ones...I'll pass.

IF this car is an original L78 with the Original MOTOR its a Bargain Price. I dont care what other things are wrong, original sheet metal with original born with motor BARGAIN PRICE!!! half of the cars out there have panels replaced wrong manifolds wrong carbs restamped motors etc. http://l78camaro.ning.com/

By the time you correct the v. covers, master cyl.,carb, exhaust mans.,oil pan, shifer bezel, motor mounts.rad shroud the smog bracket & pump it wont be a bargain. Have you priced a 4053 carb lately. WOW jmo

this car would not be a good buy at around 56,000 or so? Even with some wrong parts? I realize novas don't really do much money but a 68 in this condition as long as it is real? I like the color combo. Again peoples opinion on the word "survivor"

What Howie says is all true and some of that stuff is 68, BB,L78 ONLY, first you have to find it, then you pay out the a$$.

Salvatore

Just have to take your time to do those things. Or.....don't correct them at all. Most of the resto's today have repop parts and Chinese sheetmetal so they are lacking some character also.

What is wrong with the shifter bezel?

The bezel I think has two lines around it instead of one as this one has. Just going by memory.
