I attended the AACA Annual Meeting this weekend in Philadelphia, there were some great seminairs and while attending a seminair concerning Estate Planning for Antique Car Owners I heard one of the moderators announce that in the near future documentation for Chevrolet owners similar to that provided to Pontiac owners by PHS will be available. At the end of the seminair, to make sure that I heard what I thought I heard, I approached the moderator, Mr. A.V. Monopoli of AVM Automotive Consulting and he assured me that I heard correctly. He said that Alan Colvin had obtained the records and was setting up the service throught a website. He wasn't sure exactly what the name of the website would be or a date the service would be available but commented that this was going to turn the Corvette upsidedown!!! I guess we'll have to wait and see if Mr. Monopoli is correct.

How would we monitor the progress of this upcoming service? I have a 1969 Corvette and would love to be able to take advantage of this service as soon as it becomes available; this is GREAT news if it actually happens.

I would love to see this information come to light. PHS is one of the reasons that I like Pontiacs. However, the previous SYC thread was 8 years ago and also mentioned Alan Colvin being involved.

Everytime this gets mentioned it seems to just go away again. I hope it comes to light this time. JMO, Ed

If this happens there will be a brisk business in shotgun sales <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/flag.gif

Lawyers too. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/frown.gif GM of Canada doesn't actually document your car. They just tell you that a car with VIN XXXXXXXX came with such and such options from such and such dealer. They don't verify in any way, shape or form that the car is legitimate. They don't even look at the car. Legitimizing the car is still your problem.

I have always believed that the records are still around in some fashion. After hearing friends tell me for years that I'm crazy for believing this, I hope that I can say I told you so!

It's been talked about for years. I hope that it does surface, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Hello everyone..Alan Colvin here. I noticed this thread and wanted to clarify what is going on. While conducting a seminar at the IAAA conference in Scottsdale last month, I was asked if the possibility still existed that the records at Chevrolet still exist. Ever since I did my research for my books back in the '80's, I have always felt that they do in fact exist. I have been in communication with a variety of GM staffs since that time on a variety of projects. My response to the question at the IAAA conference was that I still felt that the records exist and if they were to ever come available, it would turn the hobby upside down...which it would. While that IAAA conversation was very exciting, I never stated that any pertintent records had been found. If I am ever involved with the discovery of such records in the future, everyone on the planet will know about it pronto. Hopefully this will put to rest what was said..

Welcome aboard Alan. Love your books and use them daily!

Not suprising on the misquotation. It is a shame but also too good to be true. We may never see these records but like you said, it would turn things upside down. Hope you continue to hang around with us.

Guys,
In one aspect I'm embarrised that I made the original post but not only did I hear it once but I talked to the gentleman after the seminar and he confirmed what he said. I guess the only good that came out of this is that we got to hear directly from Mr. Colvin.
Sorry

Hello Alan,
Perhaps you remember me. My name appears in several of your books. You are not at fault for this temporary uphoria in our hobby. In my opinion, Mr Monolopi should not be allowed to speak at any future national seminars.
As you know, I have spoken at numerous national seminars, but I always make sure my facts are facts before I open my mouth.
Shame on this person for getting our hopes up once again for the enima our hobby desparately needs.

Hey Verne..sure I remember you. I hope all is well with you and yours. Tony is a good guy, runs a great association and I am sure he meant no ill intent. Everybody makes mistakes..and I have made plenty over a lifetime. Hopefully the records will turn up some day. Verne..can you send me your phone # as I want to discuss something with you?

I told Karen about this and she said the lawyers will have a field day <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif...but, I thought it was too good to be true <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smirk.gif

Oh well, Good to have AC on the SYC...infact they should require all motels in Carlisle to have his books in the nite stand drawer...right next to Gideon's Bible <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif
