I thought I had a subscription to that magazine several years ago and it went out of business, or am I thinking of a different magazine?

Thanks all but the real thanks goes out to Mark Mitchell for giving us the opportunity to restore this unique piece of history and trusting us to do it the way it should be done. He was and is a great customer and is now letting us do his 70 Z28/M22 4.10 car. I am sure it will be another 3 weeks before I find this issue on the newsstand so until then.......

Here is the magazine (http://www.simbackissues.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PB&Product_Cod e=MCR1103&Category_Code=MCR)

Rick, you were very conservative on the amount of metal removed and replaced. Was this the owners request? Very different approach compared to other shops.

Roger, the restoration was fully photo documented and many of the photos are posted on our webpage. As far as how much metal was removed, we try and retain as much of the original sheet metal as possible. This is usually more expensive but many people prefer to have "original sheetmetal" in their car as opposed to replacements regardless if they are NOS. We are also able to preserve most all the factory spot welds and die marks using this method. All joints are butt welded removing any signs of the work that was performed and leaving a flawless seam. Floor pans are usually a different story as that is just too cost prohibitive to repair versus replace. The entire floor pan on this car was replaced with a one piece donor from Arizona. Hopefully that answered your question.

Thanks again. I have worked for 29 years to get a car on the cover and this is only my second time so we are quite happy.

I have tried to get Mark to comment but he hates attention and feels that the car should get the credit anyway and says he is just the caretaker. Thank goodness for caretakers like Mark.

As far as Annie doing most of the work I will say she did in fact did do a lot of it. She was a huge help on the headliner as well as many other areas. She loves working on these cars and in the shop and I will certainly not get in her way with that kind of enthusiasm especially when I am not paying her much if anything right now. She loves it so much she in fact took on a part time office/shop job with a custom rod shop in Springfield. Nothing like coming home to my gal and she smells like gear lube! Sometimes when I hug her I feel like I am hugging one of my car buddies. I gotta post some pictures of her someday when she is working in the shop. Quite comical.

Congrats to Rick, Annie, and Mark on the cover car.....nice article. That car deserves to receive the attention considering what it represents in the musclecar era.

Seems like many these days express that they don't care for the green colors of yesteryear but when a Forest Green ext. is done well it is a great color as is shown with your Pilot Car example.
