Still hard to believe its been 10 years. I will never forget Ken Schrader frantically waving for the emergency crew to hurry up.

It was a sad day in NASCAR....that's for sure. All the big stars have made an impact but not too many can do was he did for the sport.

Ironically after watching EVERY Daytona 500 race for the previous 25 years, this race was the ONLY one I did not watch for some inexplicable reason. I will never forget my ex coming into the bedroom the next morning, waking me up and telling me Dale had been killed. I think I have watched 2 or 3 races since then and only because Annie is a Nascar freak.

The 10 year thing really is hard to believe!.
No doubt a sad day in motorsports but the good that resulted largely from this tragedy is the HANS devices being mandated in Nascar and other racing organizations..

I remember it like it was yesterday. My dad died the year before and it was always something we watched together and we rooted for Sr. all the time. When Sr. died, it was like losing part of my dad all over again. I still don't watch the tribute and memorial shows because it's too hard. RIP dad and Sr., I miss you both.

Whether you loved or hated Sr. you knew whatever race he was in, he was going to make it exciting.

I remember it well. I saw the finish, saw Waltrip win, and no one at the time (contrary to how it's been built up over the years) thought anything about the Earnhardt crash. I was waiting for Dale to come out of the car. Then they showed Schraeder by Dale's car, and I thought he was chewing out Earnhardt about the crash. I thought we would have another repeat of the 1979 Daytona Allison/Yarborough fight or something.

I turned off the TV. About two hours, I received a call from someone saying the Daytona 500 finish was wild, and 'that Earnhardt guy' was killed. Since this person wasn't a big NASCAR fan, I assumed he must have misheard something.

I turned on ESPN, and I was in total shock.

I posted/created this clip last year. A side of Dale a lot of people didn't see.

3 segments : The Intimidator Camaro SS, Dale's 24 Hours Daytona Corvette, and Dale tinkering with his old 57 Chevy.

Not really much to add, haven't watched every race like I used to. Still very sad when the impact looks like something that many have walked away from. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/frown.gif
