I am working on a great early 1970s street/strip "day 2" 69 Camaro. I got a balanced 383 with the car, but I am a big block guy and not up on my 383 knowledge. If I decide to use this motor is there any suggestions to the combination?

350 4 bolt balanced short block
SKAT 4340 crank
H-Beam rods
between 9.5-10:1 compression (now)
Dart Platinum Iron Eagle 200cc/64cc heads
Dart single plane intake
306intake/314exhaust .558 lift roller

I was going to do some headwork and bump the compression to about 11.5 or 12:1.

The other delima is the car is an X22, so I may just stay with a big block. Any thoughts?

Small blocks love compression but this combination looks great like it is right now. You can make strong horsepower with this motor and save some weight by not having a big block over the front wheels. Before you go thru the expense of new pistons and rebalancing everything you have to decide if you really want it because nothing fills up the engine bay like a big block. If the 383 is new you could sell it like it is and use the money to put to together a 496 if that is what you really want.

Thanks for the opinion. I got a few local small block guys telling me how well these stroked small blocks run especially if compared to an iron head all GM big block. I just feel like its a sin to put a small block in an X22 car.
