What is autochek and is it reliable for a 1990 Testarossa? Records and title indicate 6,800 miles, autochek says "true milage unknown" Which is correct? Is the 1990 too early for true vehicle computer records?

I don't think Auto check is any worse than Carfax. If a claim does not go through your insurance, it will probably NOT show on either report. Sadly, though insured heavily, sometimes a owner/driver will not want to report that he whacked a tree doing unmanageable burnout or twisty turn. Car goes to shop, owner pays, never on a report. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/thumbsdown.gif
I don't believe those reports are worth anything for vintage or specialty cars. JMWO
I was pretty impressed with carfax when I was selling my 2004 Audi Allroad. The report was pretty detailed on every service which was done at the dealer. It was actually to my benefit since it backed-up my claim that it was well maintained by the dealer. There probably was 20 notes for each time I had it in at the dealer. Funny that nobody seemed to care why a car was at the dealer 20 times with only 50k on it? I guess that is considered normal for a high performance Audi?
If you are looking at a Ferrari, check out <ferrarichat.com>. Lots of knowledgeable F-car guys hang out on that site and there is a separate forum for "boxer" engine cars.
