Mecum Auction has introduced a 'Gone Farming' motif with two auctions scheduled for Walworth Wisconsin. Approx 150 tractors crossed the block this past weekend.

This segment is run by Dan Mecum, one of Dana and Patti's sons.

Tractors were offered with both Reserve and No Reserve. Approx 80% were sold.

There is a very strong market for collector tractors.

A couple of the guys I work with were talking about this today. One of them has somewhere North of 40 tractors in various stages of restoration. He just built a 48' x 76' building to house SOME of them.
There are different degrees of 'crazy'! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif

Many of the tractor guys were very serious about collecting. We'll post some pics soon.

The Farm I worked on for years had two full time mechanics just restoring tractors. Had one of the best collections in the world until one brother died and then they split it up and sold some off. The remaining brother opened a Museum with some of his collection. http://www.aghistory.org/

Including the first diesel Caterpillar ever sold.

Funny, in the three years we have been open here in Pleasant Plains, I have had several of the locals come in and ask about us restoring their tractors. I actually look forward to it someday as they would be interesting and fun to do. There are almost as many aftermarket restoration parts and decals for these tractors as there are for Chevrolets!
