Airplane crashes are always tragic.
This sentence in the message got me confused:
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">A Gulfstream spokesperson confirmed that the airplane crashed soon after taking off from Roswell International Air Center (ROW) and that its landing gear collapsed.</div></div>
How does a landing gear collapse after take-off?
A puncture ripping up the tanks, like the metalpart on the Concorde crash in Paris?

It briefly became airborne before the aircraft slammed into the ground..."</span>

Guess I missed that part.
I worked at a local airport 30 years ago. The old guys told a story about a DC7 that was heavily loaded with newspapers. When taking off the pilot pulled the landing gear as soon as he felt it left the ground, probably to reduce the drag. Unfortunatelly it hadn't speed enough so it landed on its belly. Nothing fatal that time.

It is indees sad times at Gulfstream...we have a couple of G450'S in our fixed wing fleet. Our condolences were sent to the Gulfstream Team a couple of days ago. We knew one of pilots on board.

I live in Savannah, GA where Gulfstream is based and it is big news here. Everybody knows someone who works for Gulfstream. I know one of the men on the plane was married with 3 kids so please pray for the families affected.

A real shame. Being a test pilot is very dangerous work for sure.
