----Theres some erroneous information in there as no 66 Shelby 350 street car is worth anywhere near 2 mil, but still a very, very cool find. I would guess somewhere around $80,000 to $100,000 as is, but that would be only a rough guess.....Bill S

Could be true but the whole story sounds like a good candidate for definately making sure you do your due diligence on before ever considering the car as genuine!?
Tales like this can be a clever way for bogus cars to be presented so those who think fraudulent cars are a more recent thing skip doing their homework and accept the story also believe whatever they see including the Shelby door tag on it is an original?.

I agree on the buyer doing their homework. However, if this was a seizure I don't imagine it is some elaborate scheme to make a clone look real.

You're right Jason and considering the seizure part it's doubtful any intentional fraud is happening..
But the period of time the vehicle has been locked up can still only be counted on as hearsay and w/ the amount of repop Rustang stuff available (including the previously mentioned Shelby door tags), any potential buyers had better know exactly what they're looking for/at or have someone with them who does!.

The car will go through an auction in San Antonio later this month. I recieved an email with a description of the car last week.

Can you send a copy of the link to the auction?

BTW, Shelby never had a "car lot" that I am aware of.

That license plate frame has been repro'd for probably 30 years ... or more

$9.95 from the Mustangs parts places, $14.88 on ebay or $24.95 from Shelby directly:

Anyone can buy one and it alone does not make the car "special" IMHO

This is car 6S966. It sold for $75K + buyer premium. Buyer was a party that really wanted a red/gold Hertz car, which this was originally. Only two real bidders after it passed $48K.

The car's condition was overstated by the auction company. It is very rough with non matching number engine.
