The market place is forcing them to do this but they are being drug "kicking and screaming" as evidenced by the minimum 500K reserve amount for Scottsdale. This "testing of the waters" won't improve their consignments much. Expect further lowering of the minimum reserve in the next 24 months.

Craig Jackson said, "Blah, blah, blah..."

What Craig didn't say was, "We decided to go to a No Reserve format several years ago because, we were only selling half of the cars at our Reserve Auctions. The No Reserve format allows us to sell all of the cars and double our commissions! It also allows us to short-hammer cars that our friends might want!"

Regarding consignors, Craig added, "Screw them...it's all about the Barrett Jackson Experience!"

Very simple in my eyes, BJ just not getting the quality cars in quantity. Sellers that have very rare, very expensive stuff have a certain # they want for the car and want the peace of mind to know it is going home with them if it is not reached. And look at the average Mecum musclecar inventory vs BJ musclecar inventory, nuff said. Selling a bunch of new Mustangs for Charity each year, while a good cause, has gotten old.

I couldn't agree more! Screw making the customer happy...BJ just wants to pack their pockets with even more money. When they saw a large segment of their customers going to Mecum, they got scared and changed their policy.

No reserve? I allways thought that the phone bidder was the reserve, if you have the right connections. LOL

I can say that phone bidders are a growing part of collector car auctions. It is another service we provide.

The phone bidder has to be properly registered prior to the auction in order to bid.

More like SPEED execs telling him five years ago that Reggie's cars rolling off without sale does not make for good reality TV, and if you want a multi year contract with 40 hrs of live scottsdale and another 60 for all the others annually you vill do vat vee say..

From the very first time I saw Jackson, which was years ago, I had the opinion that he was out solely for #1 and that was Craig Jackson.

Why the uproar over reserve ? We all saw the writing on the wall. I'm glad they are doing it so I can see better cars. Every year I think they will fail to impress me and every year i am wrong because of all the unexpected nice cars I see there. They might not be high dollar but there are still alot of nice cars.
