The new flying dutchman!

Something new for this year,in the dutchman racing car. We;re installing a 496 motor in the car. The motor was built by Sams buddy Pete. He;s the same guy that built the one thats in the car now. This motor got a mechanical roller, 12:5 compression, single four barrel.Should fire it tomorrow. We went 11:21 with the old motor. Should be able to run in the 10s, with this one. BBBenny

I knew we should have taken more off the wheel well lips. You can run 10.50s on 9in slicks. You may need to tweak the suspension a little more.

Here;s the update. Fired the motor, got all the little things squared away. Set the timing up. It idles at 1,200. rpm;s. Gave it three hole shots, at the garage parking lot. Coming off at 1,500,it nails you to the seat. Whole lot more bottom end. Should be something on the 1,320!!! Sunday, Sunday. Benny

Sammy, I got a weind G-force intake, and a 800 holley, fatten up for a start. Pete, said no monster carbs. Benny P/S, I put air in the slicks, they where flat. Just for the record.

well the carb is too small... its starving for more. 90 jets and its still on the lean side. he went faster then a 72, but we'll let benny tell. lol

Benny does NOT need a turbo to run in the 9's. I believe he is going to build a SuperGas car in the future. he got a taste of going fast and can't get enough. I told him to sell those other two lawn ornaments in his garage and go to it. He may not WANT to admit it but he caught the bug and knows that drag racing is way more exciting then sittin at these all day car shows and falling asleep. He told me he never knew that cars had more than just a first gear and reverse gear till he started drag racing. In and out of the trailer....in and out of the garage. tough to run that number there. The air is bad. Pretty close to a factored track I believe. better get there and keep that beast cooled between rounds Jed. The Professor now has a water bottle for the cooling between rounds. He needs a pit crew to do it Jed-I. Gotta keep the back tires out of the sun to Jed. Keep a race jacket over the steering wheel and maybe even a fender cover or cover over the windshield. May be 100 degrees at Numida Monday and humid.

First round results, I had a 050 lite, he had 011. He got me on the hole shot. 80 percent of the races are won at the line. So more effort on cutting better lites! On a finer note, I spent some time at the track with a drag racer from drag racing history. He;s still racing at the age, of 74. Ed Hedrick, he drove for Jenkins in the late 60;s. BTW, get yourself a Porta Tree - with 2 pedals, ditch the thumb switch. Hit the P/Tree about a dozen times before you make a run (no more than that though) and you'll see your reaction times drop like a rock-in-a-pool! Just make sure you put the right amount of roll out in the P/Tree.

Benjamin hits the P/Tree before each race/round, last time out he had an .028, .021 &amp; an .003!

Car runs real well for the amount of time and money he puts into it. Oh, he was dialed in real well and was getting better traction as they decided to use the hose in the burnout box. Go figure? Its not like we are in a drought? The Flash had some consistently great rts and ets. I think he is getting it all to come together! Awsome improvement!!
