Oh now I see what you want.

GM has them hidden away from us.

One of these years they will release them all and all the fake cars out there will be exposed.

They even have records of how many red bench seat 3 on the tree 67 Camaros with wheel covers and no power steering were made that were delivered from Courtesy Chevrolet in Phoenix ...

NOT!

GM & Chevrolet did NOT keep those kind of records.

There is no way to "look up" a Chevrolet VIN and determine what it was.

Pontiac however, DID keep records of every VIN.

You can get that info from PHS.

However Chevrolet DOES have the type of info you are looking for from about 1977 and later.

Your local Chevy dealer service department should be able to run your VIN for you.

Not entirely true. If the car was built or originally sold (export) in Canada you can have your VIN looked up by GM Document Services and determine exactly what it was and what options it had.

Both of our Chevelles were Baltimore built and sold new here in Ontario. We have the GM of Canada documentation on both. It is derived from the shipping lists. When we had our first car documented in the later '80s, they also sent a copy of a page of the shipping list which included our car. There were a few other COPO cars on that page as well. They don't do this any more because the information also included the key codes for the cars. Not good info in the wrong hands. They have the info on cars built in Canada and sent to the US as well.
