Doing some research regarding the transmission cooler line decals for 69 BB Chevelle. I've got the original decals on a 69 Malibu 350/TH350 and a 69 Camaro 307/pg. The trans lines on both cars have a yellow tags that display a two letter code followed by the last 4 numbers of the partnumber for that line. On the build sheet for 69 Chevelle BB, under trans lines it gives the code CN CM. One for upper, one for lower. I'm not sure which is which.

I'm soliciting help from anyone that may still have the original tags on their 69 BB chevelle with Automatic Trans. I'd like to verify if the tags are yellow with black lettering and which line is upper and which is lower (CN or CM). Any help would be appreciated.

I did have a 69 BB el Camino years ago that had the tags, but sold the car and don't recall what the tags looked like.

Thanks.

Phil Woj.

I have several photos of unrestored cars but only came across a couple with the trans lines. Does one of the decals have a part number ending in 776? If so, that goes to the top of the radiator. They are in fact yellow with black numbers/letters. I believe the CN is for the upper but cannot verify from the photos.

Here ya go, Phil...CN is the upper line and indeed the tags are yellow with black letters.

Opposite side of the tag....

My lower cooler line....you can see where the tag <span style="font-style: italic"><span style="font-weight: bold">used</span></span> to be <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/frown.gif

And finally, a picture of the upper line showing relative position of the tag. You can see where the line goes into the radiator at the very top of the photo...

Bill and Rick,

Thank you for the input. Nothing like photos of original equipment. Rick, was your photo from a '70? Looks like a 70 alternator bracket, but can't tell the rest.

I also got some help from Grady who noticed that the assembly manual has the information regarding part numbers and tag codes.

So the way I'm looking at it for record:

The upper line tag should read CN5486, the lower line tag: CM5485.

Thanks all for the help.

Phil, yes it is a 1970 Chevelle as I only had original 70 photos and just figured they would be the same. Sorry I forgot to mention that as I had intended to. I also assumed the part numbers would be the same as I was not familiar with any differences assuming they were both Turbo 400's but evidently they are.

Rick,

You would think these are the same. The aftermarket guys sell them, 1970TH400 lines, under the same part number as the 69's.

Thanks for the help though. Now we have an insight into the labels on the 70 lines.
