View Full Version : Which way do the #'s face on fan belts?

Installing new Quanta repro fan belts this weekend on the 72 Chevelle and wondered if the factory installed the belts with the part numbers all facing in the same direction (ie; so you can read them standing at the front of the car) or am I overthinking this?

Thanks

Jake

Nothing wrong with attention to detail. I certainly do not know the answer to your question, but I do doubt that there was a factory line procedure to ensure the belts went on a particular way.

Howz bout some pix of your Chevelle?

Kurt- I grew up around the Corvette crowd and remember listening to discussions on this kind of thing all the time.

I do it all the time. For example, my CD's are all in alphabetical order, all the liquid refreshments in my garage refrigerator have the labels facing out.

There is a Rolls Royce dealer in Indianna that had an article written about their shop years ago, all of the screws for the light switch plates and recepticales in the shop all were indexed to point straight up and down. A judge at Pebble beach told me a Ralph Lauren car lost points because the sill plate screws did not all point in the same direction.

Follow your instincts!

I don't know how you do that Charley <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif . I have tried and tried on my Chevelle but the belt is just spinning too fast.
