Hey Charlie L, can you post some pictures of that awesome 66 hemi you picked up at Mecum? I am envious. A real supercar in sheeps clothing. A great buy. That sure looked like you on TV when they hammered that car sold.

I believe that car has already moved on to another member here! I too would like to see some photos of this cool car.

Paul
I knew this car well as I found it while in line to go on the block at Barrett Jackson in 2006. I let Paul know about it and he bought it that night. It really is a 1,800 mile car with all the quirks an original car has that a restorer would never duplicate. It was one of the finest original cars I've ever seen, or driven. Bad fit and finish, drips, runs, overspray, crayon marks, and all the good stuff.
How funny that a prior owner had factory paperwork on the car and Charlie helped secure this for Paul back in 2006. He "temporarily" bought the car five years later.

----Tim,,,I put probably 50 to 100 of those 1800 miles on way back in 1978/9 when the car came thru Classic Motors. It came to us from the original Florida owner via one of our buyers. As Tim said, one of the best original Mopars in the world. It would be nice to get original tires back on it, but thats really a minor consideration considering the car as a whole.....Bill S

Blue Streak was the name goodyear used on their high performance tires. Not all had a blue lien on them. Their police radials developed in the early 70's were also called Blue Streak

I'm a GM guy, but I thought this car was one of the best deals of the night. If I was there, I'd certainly have bid on it.

Yes I bought it but a crybaby member here phoned me while I was still on the block he has it parked next to a equally low mile hem challenger that was apparently owned by the same guy.

There have been a few '66 Mopar Hemi guys wanting the blue striped tires for their car.
Coker has a BFG the correct size with the blue stripe, but that was not the OEM. Kelsey has told me, "Never say never, but down't hold your breath." Tough to justify a one year, one model only tire when there is a cosmetic replacement on the market.

-----I get what you are saying, but those BFG blue streaks are just lame! The 15 inch "Goodyear Blue Streaks" that Kelsey HAS made never came on any car, and I greatly appreciate that they made them. I want a set even though I dont have a car for them. I could just sit there in the man-cave and look at them!
-----Yes, Blue Streaks came without blue stripes. They also came with blue stripes but without white letters as in the 66 Hemis case. I know its not just as simple as just a blue stripe but Kelsey does have a 14 inch 7.75 Goodyear whitewall. Just sayin!....Bill S

775-15 but no 14".
When Kelsey does something, he does it right. The L60 and the 775-15 Blue streak are his only 2 non-oem tires (and the wide white radials). The 775-15 is a size he can sell as that is the mid year 'Vettes. Something about 'Vette guys not being afraid to spend money.
It took him forever to decide to do the G70-15 Polyglas Redstripe for the A-12 Mopars. Its a numbers game-- return on investment.
Sorry for the hijack!!! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/blush.gif
It's good the two Hemi's are together again.

That was a good buy. I figured the way you took pictures of your 70 camaro, I was going to be in for a pictoral treat of this car. Oh well.
I would love to see how that car would do against a 1800 mile 69 camaro copo auto. No tricks, no over boring, etc.
Who would win?
