I detest collectivism in all forms, and those who promote it, but I understand GM's logic with this move. It probably would have been better if they had simply stayed out of it, however. Between this and Dan Akerson's gas tax comments, I wonder if there will be any backlash?

I guess but wait till those that fought against Communism find out. Coming off the heels of America bailing them out is IMHO Unforgivable. I will forward this to some Military guys. GM has hit an all time low.

I also wonder if there wasn't a little "friendly" nudging from the Chinese government. Whatever the case, I'm sure GM was just hoping this would fly under the radar and nobody would notice.

very sad, but China is also supplying a large percentage of parts used to assemble all of our GM cars, including the new beloved Camaro. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/frown.gif

After the bankruptcy protection deal, I know quite a few people who have bought vehicles other than GM. Three in our immediate family for starters. Big corporations have no morals, no ethics and no principles.

I might add that it could be that GM is looking at North America in the rear view mirror. China has 1.3 billion people who want cars and their affluence is growing. India has about 400 million middle class people, more than the population of Canada and the US combined. GM knows where the emerging markets are and they aren't here. South East Asia head office....Shanghai. I wouldn't be surprised if GMs top brass aren't already working out of there.
