Its a Real 1966 R code Galaxie. This car is a True 23,000 mile survivor car wearing most of its original paint,Original H pipe exhaust system with the embossed ford logo's on the mufflers, original shocks,Blackwall tires and poverty caps.
Side oiler 427-425 HP {engine tag still intact}Top loader 4 speed and a 350 tractionloc rear. Springtime Yellow with a Wimbleton white painted roof which is the only one known to exist at this time. To say that the body and paint,Interior and chrome is spectactcular is probably an undestatement. The car is truely a time capsule and could be the best unrestored 66 R code galaxie in existance. Every number from the carbs to the Tailpipes is correct and original with the exception of the distributor which is the factory dualpoint but I believe this car had Transisorized ignition when new. It was sold new in Missouri and was in the hands of its original owner for most of its life. Only 102 66 R code galaxies were produced in 66 and this one is one of the best ones out there to exist.
Asking 75k for it but am willing to take some interesting trades plus cash for it.Once in a liftime opportunity! Belongs in a museum.

Honestly this car is MORE than what it says it is. Must be seen. Not a big Ford guy but man this is killer. Saw it many times at Donnies.

This looks like a great car. My first car was 66 galaxie fast back. Wimbleton white with a red gut. If it had been an R code 427 car I'd probably be a blue oval guy <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif.

Anyone watch a recent American Pickers show where they not only located one of these in a barn but also a Talladega and did not even show much interest after the guy said they were not for sale. The "R" code Galaxy looked very in tact especially under the hood.

According to 427 Galaxie registry, 237 R codes were produced in 66. How about part numbers and documentation?

Knowing Don's eye, I'm sure its all fine. I think buyers might be more assured if they know a date coded side oiler block, correct C5 medium riser heads, dual 4 intake, and original carbs and distributor are present and accounted for. The concern is that date coded '66 427 Medium Riser parts tend to be worth more to Cobra or R-code Fairlane restorers than to the owners of Galaxies, no matter how rare. Its a lot like all of the 428CJ Torinos and Cyclones that got stripped of their good parts in order to restore 428CJ Shelbys and Mach 1's.

Thanks Tom. I guess my question is not out of line. You stated what I already knew. This is a very cool piece of history, but every component must be verified and that is all I was asking.

That may be done Rob if a serious buyer comes knocking on Don's door. That would be alot of posting to alacarte everything on this Site. But that is JMO.
