All:
Do any of you know when this frame was made? It is sized for the larger 1950s size license plates. Yes, I did pay that much for it. :-)

No way, I think I'm good with one at that price! Don't you think it has to be older than 1970s since it fits the bigger plates?

No Donny, not that high. I was bidding in the beginning. I have 2 other NHRA versions hanging in the garage. Crazy money but rare frames in that condition. You have some rare plates and frames yourself Don. I always love lookin at them. I still think 70's. Never saw them before that but?????

The price was more than I wanted to spend, but this was the only NOS one I've ever seen. I have hundreds of license plate frames, mostly from west coast dealerships, but the racing related frames are much harder to find. This one will be going on my COPO Chevelle.

Tony, don't feel so bad.. A few years ago I "stepped up to the plate" on ebay and won the bid on a NOS 1969 USA 1 plate with the slogan Putting You First Keeps Us First... That was a $450.00 win!!

I bought this frame at Byron (IL) Dragway in either 1973 or 74. My wife had it on her everyday car for many years, and it endured those IL winters pretty well. It's now on our golf cart here in AZ, along with my old IL vanity plate that I had on my Tahoe.
My wife just reminded me that frame was on our 73Z28 when she was driving it and received a speeding ticket for doing 65 in a 30 mph zone <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/blush.gif The phrase on the frame was duly noted by the officer issuing the citation.

But isn't that a Yenko era factory plate? If it's a real one it was probably worth it. I have seen pics of them, once.
