Dennis and I dropped the tank today on my 1969 Convertible. It's a 23,000 mile Survivor. Pretty Cool Stuff!

Wow! Great options on that Vette. A Conservator can clean and preserve that tank sticker.

John,
I don't know what the dates mean. I remember reading something about it but I don't recall. Any help on that one?
Greg,
Most of it was just dirt that brushed off. We cleaned everything including the tank, covered the tank sticker with plastic, took a bunch of pictures and reinstalled the tank. The Bloomington folks tell me that you shouldn't remove them.
Sam,
I think it had to be a 350/350HP to get 4.11 gears. I don't think you could get them with the 300HP engine.

Wow - very nice car to say the least Ed! Also, with no VIN on broadcast sheet, documenting the tank removal is so important. Great job.
My '67 broadcast sheet has the correct year (67) as the final two digits in both "date" boxes. Not sure what's going on there.

Thanks gentlemen. This was a one owner car until 2009. It's a really great car with a number of receipts for warranty work from the original selling dealer, Jack Sommers Chevrolet. I also have the original protecto-plate. Unfortunately, the original owner passed away.
I was really curious about the tank sticker because I wanted to verify all of the options on the Corvette. I couldn't have been happpier when we cleaned it off.

Bergy,
I don't understand the dates either. As I said earlier, I remember reading something about them years ago but my memory isn't what it used to be? Ed
That sticker is very vivid.
Striking color combo, and with redlines too....Nice.

The handwritten "101" is the job number and should be within 1-6 or 500-506 of the last 3 digits of the vin#. The job# would also be marked on the body in the engine compartment and underside. Since there is no vin no. on the tank sticker the job no. is used to tie the sticker to a particular car.

Howard,
That is cool information. I've found a number of tank stickers and never knew that. The VIN of this car is 713601. Job #101 plus 500.
I will post some more pictures later today and look for the 101 number on the car. Thanks, Ed

date format is year/month/day or year/day/month depending on your trim tag date. Roger

Roger,
Thanks for the input. I knew that there was something weird about the date formats. The body tag is F20 or January 20th, 1969. The engine is a 618 block assembled January 11th. So, it must be one of the first redesigned blocks.
Dan,
Thanks, I knew that you would like this one. Ed

Yep - checked with Al Grenning - That's the format for '69's.

Once we dropped the spare tire and tank sticker, I was on the phone to Rusty Small and ordered a reproduction set of Goodyear Redlines for the Corvette.

The Corvette was purchased new by Mr. Robert G. Uhl. He owned Glen's Train Store in Akron, Ohio. He really loved this old girl and the plate makes sense to me now.

The car is very original. All of the paper tape for the body bushings, original shocks, and all of the stamps are correct.

Talk about a small world, I was in Glen's train shop many times over the years with one of my lifelong friends and co worker. He lives for lionel trains. Glen was a real character too. I will ask my friend when Glen's closed up shop. That's neat.

Tim,
Original paint, top, glass, interior, wheels, trim rings, center caps, engine, transmission, differential, carburetor, alternator, radiator, etc. Even the headlight washer pump. Thanks but Robert Uhl deserves all of the credit, Ed

The "N14" was an identifier to the assembly line workers that the car was to be equipped with side-mounted exhaust.
Great well-preserved '69!

Benchmark!
The order was received on 11/03 1968. On 69s, they do not give a date for expected date of production just the year hence the 8/00/00. The job #s were used in order up to 500 units then it reset. The last three # will match the vin on a car for 0 to 500 and be 500 off from 500 to 999, your being 101 and 601 vin. You may have the job # on the floor in the area of where the pedals are. You have a great car and I love the side exhaust options, congrats!
That is one cool car with 4.11's and side pipes. How many small blocks had sidepipes in '69? Not many.
I bought a similar car/color from the original owner and it was within 300 cars of yours. It was in my moms garage in Chicago for the past 21 years and was moved out in January when she sold her home.
What's unusual is that the 350 horse motor was the only engine that was a manditory four speed in 1969. Every other engine (435, L88, ZL1) could be had with an automatic transmission.
I really love your car, the tank sticker is great and very important to document the sidepipe option.
Enjoy. I hope to be there when it's awarded the Benchmark award at Bloomington.

The L46 4.11 cars are overlooked because there were so many 427 choices offered in 69. Most assumed if it didn't have the BB hood it was a low hp base car, because there were so many 427's in 69 I didn't even know about L46's until I happened upon mine and did some research suprise!
Daytona Yellow numbers L46 4.11 Coupe with a cam and header, my buddy had a 70 LT1 roadster 40k mile car, bone stock except jetting the carb, curved the dist and bundle of snakes side pipes, it was a toss up near every time we raced (OFTEN).
I always said a L46 Roadster would be a great car, IMHO the 69 is the best looking C3 and the L46 is a precurser to the 70 LT1, heck it even shares the tune up/emissions sticker with the 69 Z28.
