Went there to meet a friend from out of town. What a blast! Saw some nice cars, and met a good group of people - there was the Yoder brothers (one of their cars was in Hemmings recently) and Bruce, a guy with a modified '67 SS 396 Chevelle ragtop. Seems they are part of a PA/MD contingency. Anyone else there this weekend?

I was there along with C1SS396. I saw a few other familiar SYC faces and put some faces to some user names as well. Good all around show.

I was there also, and here is a pic of the 66 SS Chevelle that belongs to the owner of Yoder Restorations. Very nice car but it looked to me that the block had been decked and restamped.

I was there running around. One of the coolest Chevelles was the turquoise '65 L79/M20 non-SS Malibu. Also a beautiful Fathom Blue '69 Z/28.

I didn't see that car - was it there on Sat or only Sunday? I saw the '65 green car with more modern equipment but not an L79 car.

Hate to bust your bubble that's not a restamp.

I was there Sat. and Sun. Sammy was the first person I saw. Also saw a few familiar faces from the site. The "Day 2" professor was trying to give me some lessons in racing, but too many breakdowns on the track. Saw a lot of beautiful cars at the show and talked to some nice people. The Novad were a little thin though.

Be careful when criticizing someone else's car, when you don't know what you're talking about. Thats a well known Chevelle and restorer, who doesn't restamp blocks.

Easy Bill, that is just my opinion and I am not claiming to be an expert. I do admire the quality of the restoration, that is why I took pics of the car.

This must be the dusk blue Z/28 that you are referring to with blue std int.

Jeff, you may not have meant anything, but questioning an engines originality (not sure why if it's not for sale) and then claiming "is just my opinion and I am not claiming to be an expert". Just puts a question mark on the car and begs the question; why make the claim.

There is always a slippery slope when making a claim/opinion on someones car. I believe if the car was for sale and the owner was claiming it was original engine /stampings and you questioned it, I would hope anyone would back it up with pictures and the basis for stating their opinion.

The car is beautiful and it's great that the owner participated in the event.

Guys,
You may already be aware of this but the editor of Super Chevy Magazine picks 5 cars from each catagory at each show and posts pictures of them on the website for the public to vote for their favorite. Voting lasts until Friday. The photos from Maple Grove have been posted and my '61 blue Impala SS was one of the picks, Check it out and I'd appreciate any votes. Go to Super Chevy.com, click on Best of the Best
Thanks

Jeff I will attempt to clear this up and try to post some pictures. I'm glad you liked the car well enough to post the pictures, but the commments bothered me. Tommy I voted for your car really nice, they also included mine in the Chevelle class. Doug

Doug, Sorry for the comment, you do have a very nice Chevelle and I voted for your 66 as well as Tommy's 61, both very nice cars. I did not even vote for anything in the Camaro class, to me one of the nicest Camaro's there was the 68 Yenko Tribute from MD.

Here's an article I drafted for my blog. You'll get a nice cross section of cars in the slide show:

You know I have many other more grusome photos but this might be an example of the effort you went through to save this TRUE '61 SS.

Thanks, Verne, I just visited the Super Chevy website and we did win. I really appreciate anyone on the site that may have voted for my car.
I credit Verne with many things, he put me on to the car and he put me on to this site also.
Hopefully others on this site won also. Now, we'll have to wait for the end of the show season and see who wins the overall voting.
Thanks again.

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to pass along that Jim Campisano, Editor of Super Chevy Magazine called me this afternoon to confirm that my '61 Impala SS won the Best of the Best Final competition for full size cars. I want to thank each of you that voted for my car, without you guys I would not have won. THANKS!!!

Doug Yoder's '66 SS 396 Chevelle also won as did David Kissners '66 L-79 Nova. I'm not sure if David is a member here but I know he visits the site.
