Has anybody ever seen or heard about any other 1970-1972 Baldwin Motion Corvettes being released with original LT-1's??

I just picked up a 1970 Baldwin Motion LT-1 vette for my collection and just trying to figure out how many others could have been built.

The original owner is coming in soon to give me the cars complete history.

Thanks,
RJ

----The original owner surely didnt keep the stock rallys on the car after ordering it with flared wheel-wells. Wonder what wheels he ran??? Cool Vette......Bill S

Man O Man!!! I love the look of polished aluminum slotties on a period shark bodied Vette!!
Not trying to hijack this cool thread, but reminds me of my first "real" Corvette. It was around 1993 & I was bound and determined to capture a real piece of Corvette history and found a '69 L-36 427 M-21 car that had been put to sleep back in 1973......originally Cortez Silver, was wearing old school black laquer and 15x9 American Slotties on vintage G-60 Goodyear Polyglas's along with a set of black Hooker style side pipes, a radical cam change, a Holley and a Motion type "Fly Eye" aircleaner. Cool thing was that as I tracked previous ownership, I found out through the second owner that first owner had ordered car to race in SCCA out of the Seattle area. I drove it like this for the first couple years, it was a bear with manual steering and brakes. I can only imagine if a Motion car was the same sort of experience.....

I was looking at the first pic of the Vette when she was silver. Just curious if that was a Senior High school graduate tassle hanging from the rear view mirror? If so thats cool. If not it is still cool to see these old school pics of the Vette.

You have a great eye! I looked at the pictures 20 times in the last day and didn't even notice that hanging there lol

I sent the original owners sons a message to find out. I should know a lot more about it next weekend when they come in.

Yes, it was his tassel. It is now hangin' in his 66' Nova, which is his current project for the past 18 years. 1966 is the year he graduated. Which I believe was the year he originally wanted for his vette, but got drafted for Vietnam.

Tom(Original Owner) giving the history of how this Baldwin Motion Vette came to be. The video camera missed the first minute.. He was flown to Newark New Jersey for discharge from the military and rode the train to New York to buy the motion.

The LT-1's are great vettes! We currently have 7 LT-1's including this one.

I think the original owner pulled it off to install the headers he got from motion that were shipped loose with the cars. I will try and post some of the other unusual paperwork Tom saved and gave to me over the weekend.

great car and documentation work

Do you know if this Corvette had the black/chrome Motion emblems installed when new?

I am curious when the Motion metal emblems were first used which I think was sometime early 1970 so this car may not have had them or he may not have wanted them installed.

You may be able to find who did the bodywork on the car. Some guys that did the Motion body work are still around.
Gary "the Local Brush" may remember the car.

You are more then likely right. Tom did buy and install the headers at a later date. More then likely i will put it back to stock when i redo the car.

I am also surprised to see he escaped from Motion without buying any engine speed parts. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Some people were worried about having the headers installed before going through their State DMV inspection.

I have a Motion invoice on a 1968 Phase III Camaro and a 1969 Phase III Chevelle that shows the headers on the invoice with a note "furnished loose"

Tom knew exactly what he wanted and Joel could not change his mind :-)

Besides the 70 LT-1s were pushing more then 400HP stock..

Just like the intakes and headers from GM with alot of the high performance cars in the day.
