This was the last Baldwin/ Motion car built(owners own words) as Baldwin Chevrolet closed it's doors in late 72 which meant all cars built after that were Motion only cars.
Full paperwork including a letter from Joel Rosen & correspondence between he and the original owner as far as what parts he wanted to use and there cost.
Itemized work orders from Motion.
427 L-88 motor
12 bolt rear
Hona-drive (overdrive)
4-speed
4:88 gears.
Open side exhaust. ( sounds like a drag car)
All Original metal.
Like new inside and out.
Still retains all of the original hard to find Motion add on parts including the alarm system, yeah that's right, alarm system !
It'll smoke the drag tires that are on it as long as you can keep your foot in it. $165K OBO
Coming out of Private collection with other rare cars. I did by chance ask Joel about this being the last car and he laughed and said he built Vega's. I dont think I asked him the RIGHT question, was this the last one built coming out of BALDWIN Chev <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif

It was said to be the last Motion Chevelle built, the most expensive Motion Chevelle built, and the only 1973 Motion Chevelle built. Being told a 74 Vette was the last one from Baldwin to go to Motion. Trying to confirm this!! Pretty cool stuff. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/headbang.gif

He already bought something new, a Black LS6 Chevelle I found for him.
This '73 would be a neat car to own.

When I have a real buyer they will know in 30sec who the owner is. Some will even some try to go around brokers!!! It is a tough gig sometimes but I dont complain that much after all these years! It would make a cool book thou!!
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly in the muscle car world!!
Ps. Thanks for directing them over to his site thou!! Has not owned it for some years now... I am sure he will enjoy emails or phones calls asking!

If it was the only 73 Motion Chevelle built, it's been around.
I remember one in Northern Minnesota in the late 70s.
Strangely enough....it was the same color

Yeah, I noticed that too. Are the heads painted or iron?

you could get over the counter L-88's and L-S7's with steel heads.
Why call it an L88 then? I'm sure it may have been done, but has anyone seen anything to doccument GM calling the iron head offering an L88?
I know Don Yenko called the Nova LT1 a Corvette engine in his marketing. Maybe GM was doing the same thing.
I personally would not accept calling an iron head motor an L88.

If you look at kevin suydams 67 L88 vette, his L88 engine has the aluminum heads are painted. If you look at some of his other significant BM cars, the heads are also painted (phase 3 conversion on a vette).

This all sounds so familiar:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWvDao-MpOk
In the original build article it stated that an L88 was installed because Joel calculated that it would cost about $500 more to build the original 454 to make the same HP

Some Super Car Conversion companies used the L88 short block assemblies with both aluminum heads as well as iron heads.
