My buddy Rick has been dealing with kidney stones lately and has had two outpatient surgeries to try and correct them. I found out today(when I was halfway to work) that he's now at Arrowhead Hospital with another bout of kidney stones.
At the same time...Norma, my mother in law is also there. She had a bit more of her leg amputated this past weekend...due to a MRSA infection.
If you are of the praying type....we'd appreciate prayers for both <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Bruce, as you know our prayers were already in the pipe for Grandma since we spoke. I will add Rick to the list as I have been following him on Facebook. Sounds like he has had some real zingers as of late. Get better Rick!

I was released today.
A 1mm stone, along with some "dust" is at the end of my left ureter. For some reason, it has piled up and is being stubborn about dropping into the bladder. These particles are the result of Friday's surgery where they used sound to break up a 8mm stone in my left kidney. Now that the pieces are so small, further laser and sound treatments can not be considered.
I must admit, the 11mm stone that was stuck in my right ureter was no where near as painful! I had laser surgery on 8/12 to break up and remove that one. However, the laser treatment left me with post op issues that took a few days to end.
Given the choice, I would have to elect the laser surgery if ever presented with this condition in the future. The post op issues were in no way as AGONIZING as the pain I endured Sunday night. Percocet and Dilaudid were of no help Sunday night.
Glad Norma is one step closer to coming home. Although I'm disappointed we didn't get to hang out and party at the hospital.

Gotta agree. Even the <span style="font-family: 'Arial Black'"><span style="font-size: 14pt">3</span></span> morphine shots I got didn't help much!
The only thing I've found so far that took the edge off the pain is Hydromorphone. (I carry four with me most of the time now. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/whistle.gif )
