Can anyone give me a ballpark idea of the market value of an NOS in-the-box AC RC-115 radiator cap? This is the Roto-Safe style with the red plastic twist dial on the top to relieve pressure. Its a 15 lb. pressure cap. All that is currently listed on ebay is a used one for $63. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Joe. I did see that. I think that was a buy-it-now auction, which only tells me that it was worth at least $80 bucks. Its possible that the buy-it-now was set below market value and sold quickly.

What would the application be for this cap?

There was only 19 views before the cap sold so I would assume that it was priced on the cheaper side. I would guess around $125.

IMO I would not use a cap like that if the other ones were available. But again, I don't kwow what you want to use it for so my bad! The perils of being Italian I guess.

Here's another listing for one that also shows the applications. Fits just about all V8s with 15 lb closed systems;

This one was also a true auction, which bid to just under $80, so maybe that is a good ballpark estimate of market value.

I have only seen those caps used on oldsmobiles. They are not correct for any chevy or pontiac in my opinion.

Roto-Safe caps were never installed on our era assembly line vehicles as far as I know.They were produced years later & released later as an over the counter service/customer replacement that went above the federal minimum guidelines of what the assembly line had to install back then.This newly designed cap allowed you to release psi.w/o unseating the cap from an overheated radiator.
Nearly any vehicle that receieved an RC-15 cap in it's day,was OK to use this upgraded designed cap as a safer replacement to the old.It was also much more costly to the consumer,compared to the std. RC-15 used on the line.

RC-115 caps were recommended for:
