Michigan-area people have no good reason to miss it. Ditto for Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio. Simply the best muscle cars show around.
And if you visit, please give me a holler in the announcer's booth!

Plus there was Tom Hoovers 64 max wedge Plymouth that came all the way from Virginia and ran 11.60 <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/headbang.gif along with the regular line up of 69 Corvettes that were running deep into the 11.40's. Congrats to the Simpson family for being the overall winner of the event with Copo Petes white 69 ZL1 Camaro, capably driven by one of his sons all through the event.
It was a beautiful weekend for drag racing !!

I went for the first time and was very pleased. My car for the first time went 100 mph and did it all day friday, then Saturday went a personal best of 101.60 mph. I was not pleased Saturday about getting spanked three times by a beautiful Barracuda, close racing and a fun time.

Rusty called on his way home, with a few more details...
his Hurst/Olds went a best ever 103.9! Saw lots of red, though...
Julie Pennington & JJ battled back and forth for the ET record in their dueling L88s, with JJ finally making it stick with an 11.43 @ 125.8
judging by his r/t's, Eric Simpson has been moonlighting as a lumberjack! Chopped down the tree when it mattered!

Hey, Juan!
My mind doesn't record the times because it's focused on other things. Not sure if the times will be posted somewhere else or if they're being tabled for print (Hemmings Muscle Machines was there), but I suspect individual times are being posted by certain racers. Visit moparts.com "general" section and the "Pure Stock" section of V8Buick.com to see if what you seek is there.

Yes, Congrats to Dan and Bob for yet another outstanding event. I let my oldest son (22) drive my COPO for the week-end. Ran a best of 11.64 @ over 120 mph! He was pumped. Quite a bit different than running 13.5's with a Monte Carlo. Last three rounds, he stayed calm and cool and pulled off a .00 reaction time, a .04 and then a .02 reaction time. I'd say he was quite comfortable in the seat!
Owen ran the 1970 COPO LT-1 Nova and nailed a new best for the car with a 12.73 @ 109.89. The boy can shift!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Proud day for the old man!

Glad to see your 62 at Stanton. All I can say is that it looks like a real page out of history. Most would have converted it to dual fours. Quite refreshing to see your single carb version. When it was going through tech, it sure did draw a crowd. To all of us "oldies" that gathered around it, it looked like an example of what would happen if someone could transport a car forward in time from way back.

Technically, it's not a stripe-delete because it doesn't have Cowl Induction. :-)

Curious; is it safe to assume then that stripes were standard with the cowl induction hood and an extra cost option with the non-cowl hood? How much did the stripes cost if ordered as an option?
442w30
09-25-2011, 07:22 PM
There were four choices:
- Standard hood with no stripes
- Standard hood with optional stripes
- Cowl hood with standard stripes
- Cowl hood with stripe-delete
So the money outlay would be either for the Cowl hood or the stripes for the standard hood. I don't know the prices of each, but I'm sure the info is out there.

Always wanted to go to this event. When I lived up north for 2 years it rained both years and since I moved down to St. Clair Shores I have been really busy the weekends of this event with work or trips out of state. One day I will make it there. The pics and videos make me want to be there for sure.
