I went up to Frankenmuth Michigan and experienced their annual Auto Fest this past weekend.. I accidentally stumbled on this show. The Wife and I had planned a weekend trip there and did not realize the car show was this same weekend!! It didn't get any better than this..
The show was incredible to say the least!! It was one of the nicest outdoor shows I have been to.. There had to be 3 thousand cars there.. Friday night they close Main St. and let the cars cruise and park. They had a parade of Chevrolet cars by year to celebrate Chevrolets 100th anniversary..There were live bands on almost ever other street corner. It is a big street party. Then on Saturday and Sunday they have the show in the grassy field area behind the Bavarian Inn...
There were lots of vendors there as well... I picked up some Meguiars products and other neat stuff... Chevrolet had a very cool display of all their high performance engines starting in the early 60s to current. The engines were all assembled in see through containers for display...
If you never have been to this show I strongly recommend it!! It is a nice, family event and there is lots of shopping for the wives while the guys check out the cars.... The show is always the weekend after Labor Day in September.. Plus there is lots of NICE Michigan Muscle there!!
I took lots of pictures and will post them soon...

COME On already, Pics, Pics, Pics!
Dan
I've been going to Frankenmuth for 23 years now. We spend the weekend there. It is one of the biggest shows in Michigan. Always some very nice cars. They pick 25 cars from the 2500 or more that are registered as "Top 25" , best of class. The 34 Ford that I just built won. Here's a short video of my junker.
I bought the front wheels from "Scuncio", AKA Tony, a member here.

I just found out that there were 5000 cars there this year.

Tony,Any time you want to get rid of that "junker" just let me know as I will be at your door with a trailer to take it off of your hands. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/Can-I-Have-It.gif
I probably saw your car go by all weekend as my wife and I were in the Chevrolet Performance trailer display friday, saturday, and sunday as the dealer from the area that was there as performance support to answer questions and help people. It was a long but very fun show. The one bad part about "working" the show is that you dont have the ability to go out and sightsee.
It looks like we are going to sign up for next year already if we can as it was a major exposure for us at Berger.

Gorgeous car Tony...Congrats! You have the nicest "junk" around <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif
Thanks guys.
Kendal...we were at your display twice. Very nice set-up you had. Hope to see you next year.
When I started this build, I thought for around 50 grand I could build a pretty nice car. I was off by about 30 grand. It just sort of steam-rolled once I got started. Is is a killer ride though.

Wow, 5000 Cars! This must be the best kept secret outside the State of Michigan. I'm going next year. Congratulation Tony! Ed
Thanks Ed.I think they arrived at the 5000 number by counting all the cars that are there Fri night for the cruise on main street. The shut the whole town at 5 on Fri and the main street, all the side streets, the store parking lots are full of cars. It is a nice weekend for gear-heads and their families.

Sam, sorry I did not get the price for this car.. There was lots of cars for sale.. Must be the sign of the economy..
Rich
Rich...The blue/black 69 Chevelle is a 1 owner car. The owners name is Bill. He had the car painted a couple of years back. Other than paint and exhaust, it is all original. I tried to buy that car from him for years. He won't sell it.
The Phantom green convert belongs to a good friend, Gary. That is a real nice, original metal and driveline car. Hey Tony, "Scuncio", the dash pad in the vert is the one that I had in the storage garage.
The silver Yenko clone belongs to another friend, Mike. He was parked right next to my 34 and my 55 Nomad.
Nice pictures! Thanks for posting them.

Thanks Tony.... I knew that 69 was mostly original.. It really caught my eye out of all the others... Not to say the others were not nice.. There was alot of very nice cars there!! I wanted to talk to the owner of the silver 69 Yenko clone Camaro but he had like 8 million people around him talking... Just wanted to talk to him about the car.. It was pretty neat..

It was in a church field only 100 cars.. the GTO was for sale for 25K really bad paint job loaded with body filler, door seams full of bondo. The next day it was down to 21K. This is the best show in Michigan. Saturday night is the most fun. After the show ends at 5 everybody takes to the streets. Just pull up a chair on main street and watch til 10 or 11 PM. Cops are very easy going as long as nobody does burn outs. Lots of cars running open headers. In my opinon better than back to the brick. Its big enough to attract a lot of different cars but no huge traffic jamb. you can walk anywhere in town anytime day or night. (not many towns left you can do that) While your here for show stay the week and take in the Pure Stock Muscle car race 70 miles away at the Mid-Michigan motorplex. If your into cars Michigan is the place to be from mid August through mid september.

That made me laugh! Thanks again for the compliments from everyone.
I worked on the 34 every day, except for a week that I went to Florida to rough plumb my brothers new house, for 10 months. It was going to be a "long term build", but once I got started I couldn't quit. The Hemi was built by Jr. Thompson from the west coast. I'm sure some of you older guys know who he is.
