Just had the factory clocks cleaned up and made to work again in the Chevelle and the 409 (stock movement, not quartz).

How accurate are these things supposed to be? Clock guy says it can gain or lose 5 minutes a week and be within "spec". How are they fine tuned if out of "spec" other than adjusting via the normal stem adjustment?

What's everyone think or know about this?

Thanks in advance.

Had my original clock movement restored/rebuild so long ago I can't remember who did it.

Yes, my clock gains 5 minutes a week. I just turn it back every Friday or Saturday night when I go cruising.

5 minutes is a normal lapse. The clocks are really easy to rebuild, they just need the points ground with a file and then oiled. Once its out of the car it takes about 5 minutes to fix.

Hmmmm 5 minutes to fix, 5 minutes fast/slow? There's gotta be some metaphysical connection there. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif

Is there a DIY somewhere on this?
