I need to vent so I figured would do it here. I was in the garage Monday night and the wife calls me and says the washing machine just made a loud noise and smells like smoke. It is a Samsung front loader that is 2 years old and had a price tag of 900.00. So you know I am a little upset before I even get home.

So I get the operators manual out and find out the washer only had a 1 year parts and labor coverage, 2 years controls, and three year stainless tub parts warranty and I didn’t by the extended warranty. I never do! So I start to look the washer over. I find the inner tub assembly looks funny it was not spinning correctly when I moved it by hand. So I go the internet and search for a schematic of the washing machine. I was actually surprised Sears had all the information I needed. I am suspecting the inner tub balancer is broke from the schematic. Which is all part of the inner stainless steel tub assembly.

So I called Samsung, and of course a technician needs to come and tell me what is wrong with it. So today I had a tech tell me it was going to cost 650.00 in parts plus 200 dollars in labor to fix my 2 year old 900 dollar washer. The only thing that would be covered would be the stainless steel inner drum assembly which was 200.00. The tech says they always replace both outers and the inner together. I just laughed, because I am sick and tired of spending a lot of money for cheap Junk. I will try and fix it myself. The inner tub is about 200 dollars and I can return it if the outer tubs are damaged. I should have known not to try and actually get a warranty honored( A 70 dollar lesson). The inner tub will be here on Tuesday and if I can’t fix it I am going to run the dam thing over with my tractor. Stay tuned for pictures. LOL!! I will get my money back somehow!

I wish you could actually buy things that will last longer than a couple of years. Everything today is designed to fail in like 5 years it seems. Just makes me sick!

When our washer took a crap a couple of years ago we looked at all the high priced models like yours and they had little to no warranty. We ended up buying a Speed Queen as it came with a 3 year parts and labor warranty and was half the price of the fancy front loaders.

I learned the hard way also. Threw out a 4 year old machine when estimate was more than a new one. I wound up buying a cheaper machine that works just as well and I won't care if it craps in three years.

Same here. We had to buy a new washer and dryer about a year ago. I bought the cheapest crap I find on sale, and if I get three years out of them, good enough.

Had the same problem 10 years ago. Went out and bought this for my wife. I was a little leary about not getting the warranty but it was made in America. Her hands do look a little rough for a 30 yr old but with money I saved I bought her a big bottle of hand creme. Still works like a charm. Just a thought Chris

My brother bought a Sears dehumidifier two years ago, it has crapped out for the third time now. He took it back for a compressor rebuild two times already, now needing a third. The only response he gets from Sears is: "Did you buy the extended warranty". No. Dehumidifiers were always good for 20+ years.

TS. buddy. He is going to have to eat it. Bottom line, this product was built in China with crap parts. Compressor can't last a year. My old dehumidifier (30 years old) would have probably lasted 100 years. I got rid of it when I bought the new house a couple of years back. Probably should have kept it.

You get what you pay for these days. I wouldn't buy a new appliance built in China.

I just finished with a major run-in with my cable company; TWC. Same crap. Customer service at the bottom of the pond. What is happening to this country? Maybe we shouldn't go there.

The only solution is to be informed and not patronize these companies.

Just had my speed queen die after 15 years. They are nice and USA built.

Might be worth buying a home warranty for you guys. I've had good luck with AHS.

Something I have learned over the years is ask the repair guys what they would buy. The guy I have used is very quick to tell which brands to avoid. Consumer reports has it's issues but is worth the price of subscription. Now you guys have me worried about my 3 year old Maytag W&D, that I didn't buy the extended warrentee on.
