Door panel emblems are definetly the wrong ones but no big deal to install the correct "SS" emblems like the build sheet states.
The Air cleaner assembly is a correct closed unit but it is interesting to see on a L34 engine as i usually see them on LS6 cars most of the time. Those closed air cleaner units fetch about $1500 - $2000 on there own.
He does state that he added that air cleaner unit in his ad so i dought it came with the L34 396 engine.
That is a very unique set up on this SS, i like the standard cloth bench seat.
It also has the plastic inner fenders.
Interesting options SS396, M21 Trans, Am-Fm Radio, Posi and Vinyl Roof and that is it. Not to many SS cars were set up with the standard Hood/Gauges/Interior like this thats for sure.
He will never get the 120K for that car Though.
I wonder if he has the original rims with tires?
Along with the incorrect rims someone also added the door edge guards at one time and changed the seat belts as those are the optional seat belts?

I think the "GM OVERSEAS DISTRIBUTION" and "ZX1 EXPORT" information on the build sheet is interesting also. I gotta agree also about that cool, blue cloth interior! It reminded me of the LS-6 Chevelle that showed up at the SCR Reunion in STL recently that had gold cloth interior.

Bench seat 4-Speed car....doesn't get any better than that! IMO
He has one offer pending on the car as of today.

-----I like the original Tiger-Paw in the trunk.
-----Are you saying that the door-panels arent original??? Other than the obvious stuff (wheels, tires, exhaust) I see no other modifications whatsoever. I just cant see the door-panels having been changed. If different, it may be what was called for on an SS with cloth bench seat interior?
-----I cant imagine the seat belts being changed out either. If the build sheet doesnt note the deluxe ones Id bet it was a production screw up. Red Alert had a low redline tach installed in it and was, of course, an original LS6. Sometimes strange things happen on the assembly line!.......Bill S

Never said the door panels are not original but the SS emblems on the door panels are incorrect but who knows maybe the factory had some 1969 emblems left over.
Car was built in November 1969 so were are the trim pieces that went under the head lights?
The things that are not correct on the car are a few very easy fixes anyways.
I just do not think the assembly workers would put the custom deluxe seat belts as an accident?
Kind of strange why the guy does not install the correct exhaust tips, i would.
Cool car though <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif
You can see it originally came with an open element air cleaner.
Buildsheet says AM/FM Mono, but looks like it has an AM now.
Looks like she's still holding her early tail lenses.
Who ripped off the jacking instructions?
Missing it's CHEVELLE grille emblem.
Should have under headlight moulding.
Chrome shift nob with a bench seat?
Those cowl grills gotta go..

Not sure... but I would like to know how that hole in the headliner in the back seat area got there.

Mouse hole. Let that be a lesson: when you park a car for the winter, always flip the sun visors down. Otherwise, the mice crawl up and use the visor as a park bench while they chew a hole in the headliner above the windshield. They then make their happy little winter vacationland in the headliner and insulation. That hole in the C pillar portion of the headliner is the exit point. Both my Charger and my T/A had the exact same hole in the C pillar when I got them.
I betcha there is a hole in the headliner above one of the visors.

I hate it when I'm right. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/frown.gif
Those fricken rodents piss me off. Makes me wanna relocate one of our cats into the garage over the winter....but then the cat would scratch the interior, so I'd have to bring in one of the dogs to chase the cat.....but the dog would pee on the tires..... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif

Taking a closer look at the headliner you can see all the mouse poo and pee stains all over the place <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/youguysrock.gif

Ugh, that mouse pee smell. I just spent several weeks renovating the inside of my car trailer after what started out as a broken running light wire turned out to be the mother of all mouse nests taking up the entire front of the trailer bulkhead. It's been a month and I still can't get that smell out of my nose! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/no.gif
It is a beautiful car but I'd imagine that Chevelle has a similar aeromatic bouquet when you roll up the windows on a hot day. Only way to solve it is to replace the headliner and bleach the underside of the roof.

Sure you and a few other LS6 guys.
If i owned that car i would put the open air element back on and sell that closed unit but he may not know how tough those are to find.

I think it's ''buyer beware''on this Chevelle.Don't think the car is what the owner states.

Steve's right - I had the same annoying hole in my '70 SS396 and there was the jingle jangle of acorns up in the headliner as well. The C pillar hole is definitely the "exit wound"....sad

Another note:
There are some November built SS 396 out of Baltimore that are documented with the 69 style SS 396 door panel emblems as well as YA wheels so i think those door panels are legit.
The YA rims are on the build sheet.

I use moth balls, all year round. In the ash trays, under the seats, in the trunk and crushed up at garage door openings. No mice problems past five years.

Although this is truely a unique find and with 8k miles it is quite a survivor, but is it just me in thinking the seller is just dillusional on the price it is listed at?
I would think that $40-$50k would be more realistic for this car. It is not a super car, not a low production car and nothing unique other than the mileage and unrestored condition.
