I've been casually browsing for some correct 5-spoke 70 Chevelle SS wheels for my car but I didn't have much money to spend. Today on Craigslist I saw an ad titled simply "14" Camaro wheels $350" and for some reason I clicked on it. This is what I found. How about these cool old Laramie Equalizer G70-14 tires mounted on YA wheels and I got them for a good bit less than the asking price! Very little surface rust on wheels. The tires are nearly perfect with no visible dry rot. I'm not near as knowledgeable as most of you but think I did pretty good. Anyone remember these tires or have a set back in the day?

I had a set of those tires on my Chevelle back in highschool.
Looks like an AMC center cap in your 2nd pic...not that it really matters, great buy.

That is a smoking good deal for those YA rims.
I sold a set of YA rims in the same shape with SS center caps, GM trim rings and T/A tires for $1100 earlier this year.
You are lucky <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

I did not check the stamping on all 4 wheels, but the ones I checked were YA. My car is not a "NOS and date codes" car, so the dates don't matter to me. I knew the centercaps were wrong, so that helped me negotiate the price down <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif
But the lug holes are perfect and there is no pitting from rust. I've seen some terribly "restored" wheels at swap meets lately with bad pitting just painted right over and they still wanted $850! What a joke!

Here is my car that they are going on. As you see I currently have repro 15 x 8 Corvette Rallys with '67 centercaps. I can't wait to put these on! May have to find the time this weekend!

Would any of you trust driving on this old of a tire if they look to be in excellent condition visually?

You might be surprised!! I'm still driving on my repop E70 GoodYear Poly Glas that i bought from Kelsey Tire back in 1988 and knock on wood, have had no problems yet.I know that i'm even pushing it also, but they still look like new and have no driving issues.

Well I got them cleaned up and on the car! I think it looks awesome! The paint on the wheels isn't the greatest, but I think it's the original paint so I hate to repaint them but will eventually. They will need new centercaps, the correct lugs and new trim rings since these are fairly beat up but look pretty good in the pics!

Thanks guys, I love the stock look! I can't believe a set of tires can add 40 HP... that's what it feels like anyway because these tires are so easy to spin! LOL
