I have always wondered if this was a Motion Chevelle or a conversion. Has Motion valve covers and has Phase III on the hood scoop. Car sits right.

This was back in 1978 so guys were not into cloning Motion cars or trying to fool anyone for the most part as Motion was still in business back then.

Nice '68 at 1975 NSRA Street Machine Nationals. Love the raised stance up front. NSRA always had the NSRA Street Machine Nat's the weeks after the Street Rod Nat's at the same location.

Check out the "machine" banner hung over the "rod" lettering on the sign. NSRA always treated the Street machine folks as second class citizens though.

At the '72 NSRA Street Machine Nat's in Memphis, the NSRA had the local NSRA street rod club judge the street machines. What was funny was they put the street rods of the host club members inside the air conditioned fairgrounds building but left the street machines out in the hot humid sun.

I wish I could tell more about this one, but it is just one I saved off the net a while back. I love the spaghetti hanging under this thing.

----That spaghetti is a set of Tubular Automotive headers. "Tubies" for short! We used to see them around New England a lot as they were a southeast Massachusetts company. They were exotic looking but were hell on a stock height car. My cousins Shelby GT500 was equipped with them when he got it used. It seemed like he would be at the local muffler shop getting flattened sections cut out about once a week.
----And now that I have taken a second look at the picture, the car was an original 375 horse, black on black 67 Chevelle bought new by a friend of mine from Provincetown, MA. Chris White knows him as well. He sold the car back in the late 60s/early 70s I think, and found it again at Carlisle about 15 years ago, I think. Car was a real runner!!!.....Bill S

I bought a set of those Tubular Automotive headers in `95 for my previous `67 Chevelle (the Pro Street car with the 572)--part # TCR 16's, mine were 2 1/4" primaries (I have the 1994-1995 catalog sitting in front of me as I type).

There was no way they were going to work on the street, sat way too low, so they wound up becoming parts donors to build a set of "conventional" chassis headers. Aside from the stated ground clearance issues, the headers fit like a glove and had awesome spark plug access. (I still have those headers stashed in the rafters in my garage!)

Bill, do you know what the current status is on the above L78 car?

My cousin Ronnie's Chevelle he bought in 1971 or so. Originally was the pale "butternut?? yellow color but was painted a 1974 Cadillac Firemist green back in the day and just repainted in the same color a few year ago. Cadillac also had a Firemist blue and a Firemist burgundy color which were very popular back in the day because of their large flake and bright colors.

Pics do not do the color justice. It looks like a bright sparkly candy green in real life.

Sun gauges, Cal Custom valve covers, and ET 15 x8.5 and 15 x7 wheels. Other than the new radial tires and some stainless hose wrap it is how it was back in the day. Stance is dead on.
