Unrestored - Survivor 1969 L78 396 375hp X11 Pace Car. Numbers matching and documented with original dealer order invoice, complete owner history and correspondence with the original owner. This L78 Pace Car is a true unrestored survivor, with original paint, all original factory sheet metal, original interior, born with drive-train including L78 396 375hp engine, CX Turbo 400 transmission and BT coded 12 bolt 3:55 posi rear end. It’s an excellent running and driving car. The engine is standard bore and has been completely rebuilt as has the transmission, brakes and cooling system using correct GM parts. All have less than 200 miles since being rebuilt. Block was decked at some point but the VIN is stamped by the oil filter. The interior is all original except for the carpet. All door and quarter glass is original PPG. The paint is 95% original with some minor repaint on the spoiler. Paint is not show quality after 43 years. Has complete factory correct smog system and new Gardner exhaust system. Minor rust damage at the tips of the fenders and quarter panels. The floors and trunk pan are solid and rust free and still show factory over spray. Many original grease markings still exist on the car. Everything works on the car except for the RS headlight doors but all the original parts are there. Even the cowl induction works. Odometer reads 92,6XX miles. This is a real numbers matching documented survivor 1969 L78 Pace Car. I welcome any serious buyer to inspect the car and the documentation. Yes, that's it Sam. Just wondering if they were still there after all these years. My pace car doesn't have them installed on the doors either, and they are missing from the trunk. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/frown.gif

Did the dealer change names? emblem on car and paperwork are different.

When I spoke to James Maples, the owner of the dealership he said the dealership change names at the end of 1969. In fact Maples Chevrolet is still in business at the same location. The dealership actually sold the car twice. Once as a new car to the original owner and a second time when the original owner traded the car in for a Corvette in 71-72. The original owner told me he traded the car in because he couldn't get premium fuel in Newton at the time and the car desiled so bad with out it that it was almost un-drivable. I suspect the dealer sticker is from it being on Maples used car lot.

for my own education, did they stamp the vin on the auto trans? I did not see in any posted pictures (link on ebay).

That is the original trans but I forgot to take a picture of the vin when it was on the lift. I've got a 68 body shell on there now and won't be able to get a picture of the vin until next week.

The ZL1/ZLX is not mine...anymore. The owner ask me to see if I could sell it for him as he's only put 200 miles on it sience he bought it. It's a fun and awsome running car.
