Joel only made one BB Vega and I thought that car was accounted for. I bought a complete V-8 Vega swap kit from Joel back in the early 90's and talked me out of doing a BB Vega at the time. Said the engine was just too big, size and weight wise for a car and a SB was just the package to go with.

----A close friend in Ft Lauderdale built a V8 Vega back in the 70s with a ten inch engine setback. It was just an LS6 crate motor/Turbo 400, but that thing was unbeatable on the street. Also nearly undriveable!!!.......Bill S

Anyone remember when Popular Hot rodding built a BB vega in the 77 or so? It was quite a feat and they had to do a ton of work to get it to work

I seem to recall PHR doing a Vega Panel Wagon. It had "Vega High" painted on the sides. They installed a 30 over 396 with oval port heads and a Turbo 400. I think the first few passes were 11 os, then with some adjustments, they ran in the tens. I don't recall them having any problems getting the motor in there, but it has been a while and my memory has faded. maybe someone here has that particular issue of PHR. I think the engine build was one issue and the install and track day were all separate issues.

PHR's Vega High was a hatchback. The guy who built the car just passed away a year or so ago.

Jimmy, those old mag articles are for sure GREAT. Do know how to get parts 1&2 of the PHR 1977 story?
Thanks, Dicky <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/flag.gif

The ebay Vega is SWEET. I would love to own this car. There isn't a compact car today that has that much testosterone showing.
