I posted a wanted ad the other day looking for Camaro's, Chevelle's, and Nova's and got kind of a bad reception. So to follow Charley's advice I wanted to introduce myself.
My name is Chris, I live in Northern Kentucky, just five minutes from Downtown Cincinnati, OH and about 10 minutes from where GM Norwood once stood. I have been married to a wonderful and supportive wife for the last Six years.
I am only 32 years old and being born in 1979 did not have the chance to live through the era in which Muscle Cars were new. The passion for this hobby came from my Father who grew up running the streets of Newport Kentucky where you could catch him racing his 65 Olds 442 with guys like "Yenko Freddy". It was from these stories and the memories of my Father racing his 69 Nova and his 69 Camaro at Edgewater and Thorn Hill that led me to persue buying my first muscle car at 19, a Hugger Orange 69 Camaro.
In 1999 I sold my Camaro to get money to buy books and pay for my first semester of college. I swore that the first chance that I had I would buy another Camaro and never again let it go. Much to my surprise when I took my first career job in 2004 Barrett Jackson had forever changed the hobby that I once knew and loved. I will never forget the day that I walked into a local dealership in Cincinnati with $15,000 and was told to "come back when I could actually afford something". Newly married and determined to get a car I started to scrimp and save every dime I could to buy a car. With the support of my wife I saved for six years to try & get ahead of the market. Well not sure if I have done that but I have hit the point where it is no longer comfortable to think about spending more than what I currently have saved which seems very respectable.
I have now been searching for the right car to buy for well over two years. I have had deposits stolen on two cars, bought a POS 66 GTO that I lost crazy money on, paid for more airline flights, hotel rooms, and gas than I care to count and still no car.
Maybe some of you can offer suggestions. I am looking for the right car to make the centerpiece of my 1 car collection. The right car would be a 1967-1969 Camaro Z/28 or SS that is very, very original! I would like a car that retains ALL of its original sheetmetal and drivetrain. The right car would have undisputable proof of authenticity such as factory paperwork or other certifications. While I really want a Camaro I am also open to looking at Chevelle's, Nova's, and even GTO's and 442's if it means finding that super solid, one of a kind car.
My plans for this car are to share my dream and passion with those closest to me. I would like to fulfill the dream of sharing a car with my Father who at over 60 is now in no position to buy one and my brother who is 10 years younger than me but also shares our passion. One day in the relatively near future my wife and I plan to have a child of our own and I would love the opportunity to pass on that passion and history to my children just as my Father shared it with me.
