View Full Version : Smokey Yunick SY1 intake Factroy Correction Kit?
My one sister picked up a Edelbrock SY1 intake a while back. I've read about how it wasn't a great performer and needed some internal mods to help some of its street manners. The interesting part is the one we have has above average looking internal mods.

For a point of reference, this is what a stock looking SY1 intake looks on the inside.

I've seen some "modified" intakes which loosly resemble these mods with either weld or epoxy.
What I find interesting is that another intake just popped uo on ebay and it looks it have a very similar set-up.

I would love to discuss or even see any Edelbrock doccuments addressing this "wet flow fix mod".

Ive seen those same type of mods on that intake you are adressing Paul. Most of what I've read was due to lean or wet conditions in the intake.

I've seen that on the Edelbrock STR style manifolds as well. It is suppose to prevent fuel puddling.

What I would love to find is any type of factory documentation and/or pictures of this "correction kit". Anyone ever recall seeing those?

Matt, I was going to comment on some of the stuff you showed me. Glad you chimed in!
Sounds like you got an STR-10 with a similar mod? Feel free to share some pics.

Sorry but no pictures. I've had them in the past and they had these mods.

I'm glad to see this thread pop up again. I bought a mint in the box SY1 intake and wanting to experiment with it it either on a solid roller DZ302 motor or a nice 355 SBC with solid Isky cam and NOS aluminum Bow Tie heads worked over by Randy Bryzenski Racing (SP?) in WI. I have some of the original paperwork shown in that pic. My manifold look to have never been istalled but does have Expoxy & Popsicle stick mods similar to what was shown. I'll get me hands on what I have and figure out how to scan & post.
My need some help there- plus a pic of bottom manifold mods. Thanks!

I have an SY1, would like to use it in our Historic Trans Am Camaro (not a street car).
Could you share the Edelbrock pages shown in the photo?
Does anyone know when this manifold was first produced for sale ?
Thanks in advance!
