Not critizing the cars here at all--they're spectacular, but I noticed a few sets of Wide Ovals in the pics. Seeing as they're so rare and are such high-dollar vehicles I'm a little surprised to see this.

Is there a reason for it--i.e. it was one of the cars the the dealers had a hard time selling, hence they didn't get sold til 70 and the dealer had put Wide Ovals on them?

Was just wondering. Maybe I'm thinking too much into it....

----I can tell you for a fact that present owner told me that the tires on the hugger car pictured are the tires that came on that car, on those wheels when the car was delivered new.....Bill S

I was at the Gibb dealership on May 7th of 1969. There were maybe 20 of these cars sitting on the lot just East of the showroom.
Although I don't have photos to prove it, I clearly recall Firestone Wide Ovals on some of the cars. Why do I recall that? I had Firestone Red Stripe Wide Ovals on my '68 Chevelle and hated them! Couldn't wait to burn them off and replace them with Goodyears. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif I made a comment to one of the guys with me that those tires wouldn't last long on THOSE cars. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/wink.gif Guess I was wrong, eh.

That first blue ZL1 has no smog on the motor.
Did they not all come with the smog or did the owner or previous owner change the manifolds?

69 Tom,
ZL-1 #35(Green) was 1 of 37 ZL-1's returned to Chevy by Fred Gibb--Sutliff Chevrolet took 2 of the cars, 1 Green (MINE) and 1 Blue .
My car did not sell and Sutliff asked Bruce Larson to take #35 with him to Drag Strips to try and sell it. Finally Sutliff added a Rear Spoiler and Rally Wheels around 1971. Maybe these tires were on the wheels as they are not reproduction or maybe by 1971 it needed tires.
On my Protecto-Plate it was Sold new in September 1971. Information was given to me by Rusty Symmes the 2nd. Owner.
Mark Hassett, I am the 3rd. owner.

Are you surprised about the F70X14 Firestone Wide Oval tire in general being on a '69 camaro,or the newly designed 1970 Firestone Wide O Oval tire,(and one they currently reproduce today), being on a '69 camaro?
They were assembled longer then usual.

The latter--the fact they have the newly designed 1970 Wide Ovals on a '69 Camaro. I think I've seen a couple of the older style Wide Ovals, but sadly are obviously not reproduced.

Hope no one took offense to my comment. I wasn't trying to criticize. Was just curious as to whether maybe there was a reason. Seems like there might be in a couple cases.... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/beers.gif

Did anyone(by mistake)get a pic of my old white COPO (under restoration) at the show ? I have seen the left frontfender in a pic, with a green COPO to the left of my old car.

It's made quite a bit of progress! If I remember correctly, it has original engine & rear?
