Belongs to a friend but it is here at my house. Rally Green L78 Nova, column auto, orig engine and rear, prior owner said he thought orig trans got exchanged for a rebuilt years ago. Has rust holes in hood, fenders, rear wheel lips, a couple small holes in floor and around the tail panel weather strip area. I'm sure I am forgetting some but a very restorable car. Comes with another SS hood and a couple of good trunk lids. Looks like orig. alt, radiator, pulleys, probably dist. Orig carb was supposedly replaced with a correct one.Nice dash pad, floor mat looks saveable. Car has been sitting for years. Air cleaner base looks Chinese. Send me a PM or Email me at [email protected]

The Chinese have always been lax in the air cleaner base dept.

So the Mayor told me where to look for a build sheet. I pull the back seat out and I see parts of two sheets. First one I dig out has a diffferent body # though...Bummer. Next one I dig out has the right body # and enough of the sheet to see the L78 in box # 3. Ha ! Livin large.

It's not uncommon to find the wrong build sheets in the springs, along with a correct one. Most Novas had the same blk standard interior. Line worker just grabbed the 731 taged seat.

You dog, that's great. Like $$$$$ under the seat.

I love that car - wish I had room for it. Didn't the price go from 19 to 22 to 20 to 19 in this thread?

mockingbird812
03-15-2012, 09:24 PM
Bergy - the thread initiator can change the initial posting price and in this case Charley added a new post also. So it only appears that Charley's pricing is all over the place!!! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/whistle.gif

My mistake Charley. I didn't realize that you changed the initial posting. What a neat, rare, great color car for not too much $$. Can't remember - what's the ststus of the drive train? Running car?

Charley Lillard

Not running. Has been in storage for years. Engine is free though.

Based on the standard vinyl interior, rubber mats and column shift..I would lean towards steel wheels, redlines and dog dish caps from the General. Upgraded wheels were not that common with the "bare bones" package...possible, but not likely. Most guys got this setup to go fast and typically added their own wheels and tires..along with headers, air shocks and so on.

ps...if you buy it, I have a nice set of mint front and rear panels for the doors and rear seats <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif

I'll tell ya, I saw a original drivetrain (it looked it)70 L78 4 speed in much worse shape (rust holes in roof, etc) with no paperwork, and no starter, alt, things like that go for 17500.00 last summer on Ebay.....

This site sucks. I have had this pile advertized for almost a year.

Don't know why it has not sold..... Awesome price on a L78 with #'s matching to boot. Good color. Only the auto on the tree hurts.

And you found paperwork.......

Looks like a steal to me.

I have seen this car in person and it is very solid. This is a no brainer for an end user.

I'd buy it if I had any money. This car has my favorite color. Most of the paint fell off but my 56 was painted a similar color.

Yes

I will give it some more thought. It is just hard to get past the column shift automatic aspect. The cost of a full resto for a automatic is tough to justify, though I love these cars. Thanks

Should you decide to pick it up, we would certainly be interested in doing the restoration. We are Nova people. And that could be a very cool ride.
