I recently purchased this distributor from a buddy who has been a big drag racer since the late 1960s. He has always raced big block chevys. This is an old BBC/SBC dual points distributor that has he had for many years. He had no idea what make it was. It is aluminum and the casting numbers look identical to Winters casting numbers on GM intakes and heads. Anyone have any idea? It is a very cool day 2 distributor!!!!

I googled "24100 V big block chevy distributor" and found this...

The HAMB (http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-417745.html)

It's called "Double Life" distributor.

I agree this is an awesome looking distributor. Does anyone know anything about these? Reliable? Are they date coded or have a time frame when they were used?

Don't the double life's have a four lobe cam in them?

Should be mid to late 60's and early 70's. Some of the other guys on here will know more details. Motion Performance used them.
Part number should be YC-310. If you don't want to run points, you can install an electronic kit in it.

There are some pictures of nos YC's on this thread.

I had asked this question on the Day 2 parts thread..I guess Professor Mallory did not see it..lol
I had never saw a YC-310 with an electronic module until I found this one. Anyone know about these and when they were released?

I was just going to say that! Lol I hope you have the correct coil number to go with that distributor?

310s came in many configurations (I believe all were double points and would work on both BBC & SBCs), electronic, single capacitor, rev/pol single capacitor & rev/pol double capacitor and I am sure there were others. I think they were all non-Vac (mechanical)advance units. And as Professor Mallory said, make sure you couple these dizzys with the right coil/electonic CD unit, rev/pol switch, resistor, etc.

Sam, the earlier Rev-Pols came with a round coil and two negative posts for the double condenser. The later RP's had a single condenser and box type coil.

That makes sense Jed. Thanks!

It has to be a Unilite module, but the part number on the box is the same as my dual point. Both are nos and were in sealed Mallory boxes.
On the coil, I would imagine any coil that works with an electronic module will work with this one.... MSD, etc. I wouldn't think a modern Unilite module would work any different than the old.
Yes, no?

Sam, did you retore that distributor? Looks great!

mockingbird812
12-25-2011, 01:45 AM
That is the condition I bought it in Sammy. I'll replate the clips & pins on the sides that hold the cap on and brighten up the condensers. These things look like pieces of art when they are all gussied up!
