very nice.. Wonder how and why it was equipped with a 12 bolt with a 350 2 barrel/powerglide combo?

The car has a 350 cu.in. FOUR BARREL,glide and that is why a 12 bolt. Heavy duty is four barrel 350cu.in. Nice car. *Paul

----Awhile back I had a 1969 Chevelle wagon in very similar condition with the same 350/12 bolt combo. What I find different about the two is that my wagon had a Turbo 350 rather than the slip-n-slide. I wonder why???
----This is a seriously cool survivor. Would love to have it. wonder where the bidding will end up......Bill S

About 15 years back I parted out a 1969 Chevelle 350 4 barrel, powerglide, 12 bolt car.

There's some things that are unusual. I try to put myself in the mindset of the person ordering the car at the time, and their purpose/logic. If they had an idea that they were going to pull something, and obviously they did with the boat hitch dent, I can see the 4bbl, and 12 bolt, but wonder why leaving the glide in as a weak link. Glides were stronger than we sometimes give them credit for, but seems odd that they went that far, and cheaped out on the trans.

The car in question isn't an SS so why does the air cleaner have a chrome lid? With the 1968 chrome covers present, I am going to assume that someone ordered the covers and the chrome lid early on and installed them over a plain black lid and standard orange covers.
-Matt
My sister's 69 Camaro is an non SS with an LM1 350 with a glide and a 12 bolt. Had the same chrome lid too. I don't recall if the vc were chrome though. I know her's is an early Camaro, maybe something they did with the early cars. How early, I forget right now.

The valve covers look aftermarket. They are too square on the ends and look a tad too tall to be factory. Very cool Nova!

If you read the ad, the car was ordered as a rental. Being an Arizona car with A/C, I bet they upgraded to the stronger 4bbl V8 so that it wouldn't be burdened by the compressor too much. Otherwise they just wanted an automatic so no reason to spend more on a TH350.
Its interesting how GM would spec HD components triggered by certain equipment, no matter how the rest of it was configured. That Nova would get a 12 bolt even with the powerglide and tall rear gears. I've told the story several times before, but I had a '69 Firebird 350/2V with A/C that was built with a TH400 only because it was required when you ordered air conditioning with that motor.
I think you might be right on the VC, but the ac lid I think it original.

But, Donny..it does have white letter tires..right up your alley <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif
Cool old Nova...would make a nice hotrod/ratrod....as for the glide and 12 bolt...our 68 Nova SS had 3.07 12 bolt rear with glide and L48 engine...not exactly HD...but, that's the way they built them.

I saw the rental on the POP. As a rental unit they to usually have a reason for what they order. So since it's a rental, and somewhat unusual, maybe it was a COPO order. (big smile)

Like this? Here is my early 1969 Camaro (10C) - also non SS with an LM1 350, a glide and a 12 bolt. I sure love to have my survivor as a go-to reference! This should resemble the way your sister's car looks... don't know whether Nova's were same or different. I sure could make room in my garage for that Nova survivor!

Did someone mention LM1's <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif
This Nova got the chrome lid because it is a LM1 nova.
There were also LM1 Chevelles as well.
HR 69 350 Nova 255 LM-1 Power glide 4-Brl Hyd Cam
HR 69 350 Chevelle 255 LM-1 Power glide 4-Brl Hyd Cam
HR 69 350 Camaro 255 LM-1 Power glide 4-Brl Hyd Cam
Even in the camaro, if you ordered the LM1 option with a powerglide you usually got the 12 bolt (which is odd because I think there are several examples of SS 350's with glides that got 10 bolts).

I don't like chicks with moustaches, but when one is seen, she sure gets talked about. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif
<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gifThis Nova is quite cool for me too. Wondering why no bright work around the windows, but my (plain jane?) 69 307 TH350 10bolt A/C has it.

If a 1969 survivor Nova doesn't do it for ya, perhaps a 1968 survivor Nova will...

If you look at the cowl tag photo you will see a single letter "M"...that denotes the interior trim color...the lack of any numbers following the "M" means thre are no exterior trim options....this car is plain vanilla...very cool <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

That is a lot of money for a 4dr IMO. I could of bought the same exact car with low milage for 2500 last year. Still kicking my self for not buying it. But with saying that, I personally think 68 novas are in demand. A lot of cars have been selling lately.

What are the chances that I'd reminesce about that car on the day that you bring it home... again. I hope its still in its survivor condition! What are your plans for it?
i thought it was crazy too!,when i bought the car the first time i was told it was original paint and never wrecked, well it has been bumped in the rear pretty good and painted all over so i was disappointed too say the least and sold it to a local guy. this time i am in the car a whole lot less money, the only difference is that it lost all 5 XT wheels, but they went to a super good guy who helped in me getting it back!it now has a set of tto torque thrusts.not really sure about what iam going to do with it,it runs and drives great and i have been in touch with the original owners son
