View Full Version : Intake Gasket

I am making some changes to my motor (intake/carb). When I removed them the other day, the intake gasket (Fel-Pro 1211)was cut/torn in a few spots.

I believe this was due to the ports on the heads being bigger than the intake so when they compressed together, the gaskets were cut.

Any recommendations on a gasket that will work with my set up, which is ported heads and a non-ported intake?

I really don't want to gasket match the intake if I don't have to.

Thanks, Kurt

Try a Mr Gasket 108.

What intake are you going to use now?

Eric, I am going to try out a Edelbrock TM2R with a 850 vacuum secondary along with a rear gear change.

BTW....how are you typing with your hand all bandaged up???? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif Hope you have a speedy recovery.

3418? That will be interesting to see how it compares to the 3310 and 4346. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

As far as typing, I have an unorthodox method of typing to begin with--I only use three fingers on my left hand and my middle finger on my right...dunno how/why I started doing it this way, and I'm sure it would send my high school typing teacher off in a fit, but it works...more or less.

Eric, it's the newer 850 V/S that comes on the 502 crate motors. I am hanging onto the 4346 for the street if the 850 is too much.

Cool. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Did you ever get to track test the 4346 vs the 3310?

BTW, I think I may have a solution to one of the issues you mentioned you were having on the 3310. Give me a call next week and I'll fill you in.

Yes....but the day was very hot compared to the other days at the strip. My best with the 4346 was almost identicle to the 3310.

I will get a hold of you.

Have any of you ever seen this happen to intake gaskets? I checked my ports with a mic and the correct gaskets were used.

I remember re-torquing the intake a few weeks after the motor was built so I am leaning towards that being the problem (oops). <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/blush.gif

I purchased a set of Fel-Pro MS90005 intake gaskets. They are black with steel in the middle. They are .060 thick with a dimension of 1.82 X 2.54. I think they will work fine.

EDIT....Here is the part but I only had to pay $13.99.
