Today i got the news that my original 454 LS6 Externally Balanced Harmonic Balancer Damper is not recomended for re use as it is to beat up and has a bad uneven/dry/chipping rubber seal.
My motor builder told me that i need to buy a new one.
What aftermarket or new GM piece is good to buy to replace my #3963532 GM unit that will have the same look as the Original one.
I want to buy a new Damper and not a used one.
It is an 8" Extrenally Balanced Damper i need.
Any Recomendations? as i need one soon.

Last time I looked they were still available from GM for their trucks but were outragously expensive. If memory serves me correctly they looked just like the originals.

Whatever you do, stay away from any of the offshore balancers. I was just researching this subject for an upcoming project and much to my dismay I've learned that even some of the (previously well-respected) OEM replacement balancers have been coming apart in the field even on factory non-performance installations.

Your best bet would be either pony up for a genuine GM balancer or spend even more for an ATI if you want the best available.

Thanks Dicky,
I know the parts manager at a local GM dealership.
If he beats Summit or Jeggs price of $181.90, i will just get it here, if not i will order it from the States.

gmpartsdirect has the GM 10216339 Damper for $147.29 but they do not shipp to Canada.
Damn <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif that is the cheapest price i found.
I will keep looking.

City Chevrolet in NC has them in stock for $157.30, will call them tomorrow to see if they will shipp to the great white north. If they use UPS i am out as i need regular USPS shipping to Canada to avoid those large UPS fees to Canada.

You guys want to hear how bad it is getting parts in Canada,
Here is my Discount price for the above GM part# $368.20 -list is $460.06 at the counter for a joe smoe. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/thumbsdown.gif There is also a 13% tax on top of this. Then they wonder why us Canadians order on line from US companies as it still comes out way cheaper from the USA even with tax and shipping prices.

Summit has it for $169.95. If you show them the gmpartsdirect price they should honor it and Summit ships to Canada.

When I purchased the set of Mickey Thompson Indy Profile tires for my car, I gave them a link to price check. They sold me the set for .01 less than the competitor.

I would have a couple of prices in case they won't price match GM.

Thanks for all the help guys.
Summit will do price match on any other company but not Gmpartsdirect as they are there suppliers for GM parts.
I tried but no can do. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif
