Local memorabilia collector

I posted some pictures of gas pumps on another thread and it reminded me of these pictures.
A local man named Roger Brown has a collection of auto memorabilia and some friends and my family took a road trip down to his place. I thought everyone may like these pictures. The 55 Chevy pictured was built by the owners dad back in the early 70's and has not been touched other than brakes and tires.

If anyone watched "American Pickers" last night they came across the son of an Amoco salesmans 40 some year collection as well as many other garage memorabilia and as usual only bought a half dozen items. For the prices the guy was asking I would have bought lock, stock and barrel. Always makes me wonder how much of that is set up. None the less there was some really neat items shown on the show. Some pretty rare stuff.

Frank and Mike always push the car parts to the side to get to a rusty old sewing machine stands or what ever. I wonder if they even priced the round Pontiac service signs or the GM clock hanging on the wall????? I think the guy selling the stuff did not want to sell it all. It still makes me wonder how much stuff they buy off camera??

Yes, they HAVE to buy much more stuff than they portray on the show because they can't make a living buying and selling a few hundred dollar items each week with the occasional few thousand dollar item.

Wasn't there someone on this site whose father's house they visited?

I think they are making more money per episode and on the branded Picker items there selling then they are making on there finds.

Rick, I saw that episode tonight and was blown away! I heard that Mike and Frank have a semi behind them and buy EVERYTHING that they can make a buck off of. There is NO WAY that they left any of that good stuff behind. The gas &amp; oil signs, soda stuff, etc., is their bread and butter. They can't show how little they buy that stuff for because it looks bad. They show a few cool items for filming but most of the good stuff gets bought off camera.

A customer of mine just recently visited their shop in Iowa and said he recognized most of the items in the shop and there were not that many items there. It is also VERY small. Don't know and don't care but I know I would not be leaving a lot of those items behind!

Jerry Burford from LaHarpe has known Mike &amp; Frank since highschool. Their shop in LeClaire,Iowa is indeed very small; an old service station. Rumor has it they were working on a new store in New York, but now I see they've opened one in Nashville.
Jerry said Frank has a home outside Davenport and has an IMPRESSIVE collection of vintage motorcycles, ........... like 100s of them! When Jerry recently opened his new business, GASOLINE ALLEY (http://gasolinealleylaharpe.com/index.htm/) , he told me he was going to have to go back to Mike and try to buy-back one of the vintage Gas Pumps he had sold them earlier. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/crazy.gif
