I've been toying with the idea of making some changes to my 64 Chevelle. I have had it built this way for 10 years, and while I'm not tired of the car, I thought it might be fun to make some reversible changes for the next couple of summers.
If I do, they would be of the Day 2 era.
I have two of the old Edelbrock, dual plane intakes that are Dominator flanged. I would just have to add spacers for the tall deck block. Other than that, I'm asking for ideas on everything. Wheels, tires, under hood, interior and ride height.

Thanks for everyones time.

This is the shifter in my 65, so I say put a console back in it.

Here are some other ideas:

Tow tabs, period valve covers (M/T or Offenhauser), chrome reverse out back with skinny torque thrusts up front and some vintage traction bars. You'd be in business. The car looks killer as is though.

Thanks for the input.
I love the Chevelle in the last picture.
I can't put the console back in. The tunnel has been modified for the Jerico and it will not lay back onto the tunnel.
I've made a deal to get the NMW ladder bars from another member, so I have that covered.
Valve covers I have are: Cal Custom, M/T with the 427, Edelbrock, NRS, Weiand. All are period correct for the most part and I also have gold Moroso. I do like the idea of some type of steel wheel in the rear, chrome or black. I may do Cragar S/S or Keystone in the front. That's my favorite front runner wheel from that era.

I like what Matt is saying. No steelies anywhere IMO unless just for mounting slicks for a weekend binge on the dragstrip. Jerico huh? Most be a real nice fast ride!! Last picture looks like a Seaton's Shaker Chevelle. Altered wheelbase chevelles are bad!

Last 2 pictures are of the same Chevelle guys.

What year are you shooting for Tracy?

Not that my car is the epidome of Day 2, but here are some things I was going about 1991/2.

The Pink here is residual influence form the 1980's. Tires were 225/70R15 because that is what my dad brought home out of a used tire pile from the dealership. The rears were a 265/60/15 Bias Belted tire.

Here are my ladder bars and "customized" finned 12 bolt cover.

As much as that Cowl hood is cool on that Chevelle Tracy, it kinda sticks out as a departure from a 1960's vibe. I've seen little Pontiac or generic type scoups, Ford Tunerbolt, Corvette Stinger hoods all done in back-in-the-day but never a Cowl hood. It was pretty common just to jack the back of the hood up as you can see in this picture at Atco. That is what I do.

I would say 68 to 71 era. But again, I'm not that big on everything being dead on. In other words I'm not going to change my Spal fans and fabbed shroud.
The hood is a must have with the intake I am running at the present time. The HVH made 704 h.p. and the much shorter Performer RPM was 38 h.p. less.
But I don't really care about that stuff anymore. I should be able to go back to a flat hood with the C454 intake.
The attached picture is when I had the RPM intake installed. I took a stock Camaro air cleaner and modified it to a dual snorkle. Everything fit under the stock hood, but I had a Pro Systems 4150 carb. at that time.
BTW..the cowl hood is all steel. I made the scoop out of 18 gauge steel.

Question about your Homemade dual snorkel... what are the snorkles from? It looks cool! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Thank you.
I made them from 18 gauge steel. They are two pieces,( a top and bottom ). Radius was done in a slip roll and then spot welded together down the length. This way they have a factory seamed look.

This is the intake I would use, C454.
Sorry for the low quality picture.

Got a picture of the lakewood rollbar? *Paul* We would be interested in all the parts on the Chevelle that you want to get rid of. Give us a list to look over with prices and pictures would really be nice since we are near the Philadelphia area. We do have paypal to complete the sale(s) in a quick manner.

Best thing to do is not make a knee jerk decision. You may regret getting rid of the stuff someday.
