2012 Chicago Auto Show

There's a TON of information, pics, and video from the 2012 Chicago Auto Show out there, but I thought I would post some pics of cars that the auto writers typically don't show.

Check out this Camaro in the State Farm Insurance display. Their intent was to show the difference between what someone would call 'stock', and what they would call 'modified'. The half-and-half theme went down to the chassis. Very wild car! Anyone know who did the customization?

A beautiful 1953 Corvette, and a 2013 60th Anniversary, nose to nose...

This was pretty wild. The Chrysler/Dodge/Fiat display was HUGE. They had the usual Jeep obstacle course, where they gave people rides, but new this year was a little dragstrip action. They had a part of the show floor where they took people for rides, and did acceleration tests, then a full-on slamming of the brakes.

Glad you liked our Camaro. The split Camaro (1968 RS convertible) was designed and built in-house by the State Farm Vehicle Research Facility staff. The team came from the automotive sector and still builds cars as a hobby. This project incorporated two build styles into one car. This was designed as an internal training aid that depicts a fully restored vehicle (yellow side) and a modified vehicle (red side).
