Is this a fairly rare option? Does anyone know how many cars were produced? You seldom see this on any restored '65 442s. (of course, you seldom see '65 442s!)

Rare, yes. The wheel option was released in Feb of 65. Many people think that the wheel was a late addition but Olds made 442s for 6 more months after the wheel was released. They were available on every F85 V8 car except station wagons.

N98s were regular chrome plated steel wheels. Nothing more than that.

As for seldom seeing a 65 442, a see two every day in my garage!

Thanks.

Now for my real question....

Any guesses on the value of NOS center caps for those wheels?

Not as much as you think.

OK. I was thinking about adapting them for use on a non-olds project with chrome reverse wheels. I didn't want to 'waste' them if someone in the olds community was just dying to have them for an Oldsmobile project. I think I'll go ahead with my plan.

Cool rims!.
If the centers are rewelded in reversed, are the old outside now inside profiles of these rims sufficient for caliper clearance of a disc system?.
Maybe your project has 4 wheel drums but if not be sure they clear the calipers when all fully bolted together as few stock rims w/ those raised bumps between lug holes have the clearance to work w/ discs..

I was gonna try and use them on the wheel I've just added to my Chevy II. Got these from Wheel Vintiques, and they are very similar to the olds wheels.

I know Rally America and other places can take centers from old wheels (like stock N98s), re-plate, and weld them into new hoops to clear discs, etc. Would be a good option if someone had rusty N98s.
