Hey, im having an issue with my 69 z28 ever since i got it. My console temp gauge seems to climb to the hot position pretty fast when running the engine. It doesnt stay in the half mark very long, and it doesnt seem to take long of engine running to make it go to hot. How could i test my system to see where i have a fault? Is there different senders that screw into the block? this one was off of ebay and was nos, suppose to be for a gauge car. Thanks

I think NJSteve did a comparison on temp sender gauges recently. If I remember correctly the newer ones are not the same as old NOS/original ones.

Jason is right on the money IMO. The problem with some new temp senders is the resistance is to low which allows the temp gage to register to much needle travel.
Even the newer AC Delco ones are NFG. There are some charts that compare the static resistance, and I will see if I can find it. However you may try and find a servicable OE one or go with the one from Lectric Limited.

Is the sender suppose to have a threaded nut style or one you slip the connector over?

I am not 100% sure on the 70 car. The slip on one was 68 and earlier, I think ??. Most later 69 cars got the threaded post. Probably carried through to 70 ?
Rick and Chris where are you.. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/youguysrock.gif

I had the same problem. Ended up spending the money on the Lectric limited sending unit and it reads great!
