I am looking for a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 or 454 for a friend of mine who is trying to find one for his wifes 50th Birthday. The car must be blue and have a bucket seat interior 4 speed or auto trans and must be a real SS. They have $30,000 to spen and are willing to do some travel from MI. Please let me know if you have one or any leads.

Thanks!

John,

Your NOT going to find a "REAL" SS LS5 for $30K. You may find just an ok SS396 for $30K, but may be some upgrading, JMO.

It dosent have to be a 454 car I know its highly unlikely but you never know. I told him that he'd prob be able to find a really nice 396 car that isnt perfect for his price range. His wifes fist car was a 70 SS 396 and she has been wanting another one for years. Any tips or leads would be great!

Thanks so much

So I was able to talk to my friend yesterday at our car club meeting and got more details on what he is looking for. He said he wants to get his wife a fathom blue with white stripes and a black bucket seat interior. He also told me it dose not need to be a true SS but a very well done clone. A/C would be a perk as well.

I watch the 70 market pretty close and this is just my opinion but even very well done clones are bringing better than 30K. I've seen quite a few well done clones and even true SS cars with original engines long gone that owners are asking and getting mid to high 30's. For 30K you can buy a decent driver for sure but the really nice/fresh cars are still bringing the money. Good luck hunting!!!

Yah all he wants is a really nice driver for his wife dosent have to be a freshly done car but a car that looks mostly correct and if they want to show it off they can.
