Picked up a set of slapper bars for my Nova. Can anybody I.D. them? I was told they were made by Lakewood.
If so I will paint them Lakewood yellow and save them for when I get a set of Cragars or torque thrusts.

never saw a pair of Lakewoods that looked like that.
They started out as Lakewood bars. Looks to have been modified to have the bars "loaded" all of the time. There is more than one way to do it. If you like them the way they are, then run them. You can paint them any color you want. Nothing would be wrong after mods like that.

Thanks, they came off a modern day stocker (before switching to slide-a-links)I was told they were made by Lakewood but perhaps he modified them. That said, I'll put them on and see what they look like then figure out whether to paint them yellow or not.

Instead of starting a new thread I thought I would keep this one going. I hope the OP won't be mad.
Does anyone recognize these traction bars?
Thanks, Kurt

Thanks Tommy.
If they weren't over an hour away (fuel) and we are expected to get bad storms here a little later (hail), I'd go check them out.

I had just posted on some other Ansen bars Tommy was selling. I'm a hugge fan of their equipment. Those bars were "made famous" by Joe Camuglia who goes by '69Novajoe on this site. He is an original owner and rocked those bars out since new!

Here is a cool showing the bars.
Here are 3 different versions of Ansen Competition Ground Grabbers- all NOS. I only have plans for the middle pair right now. I like these so much though, I could modify the other two pair should I find another Nova or something I want to run them on.

On the left are a pair of "Camaro" bars, I suspect second generation.
In the center is a pair of Chevy/Chysler bars.
On the right I've got a set of Ford bars.
When I look back to when I first saw these, I think it was the unique shape peaking out from in front of a rear tire I'de seen that caught my imagination.

I'm amazed at how specific the hardware is and adjustable this set-up seems to be.

I was looking to post some pics on the Nova site about traction bars and ran accross this old thread:

What do you think, Dave Belk's Nova is possibly running the Ansen Super Ground Grabbers?
